WOW…thought provoking
I recently had the opportunity to watch Till on TV but unfortunately did not have time to watch it all. The following day I spoke about the parts I watched with friends, black, white and brown. They all said that they didn’t want to watch the movie because “it is too depressing!” I protested and said “history isn’t always pretty!”
People of all colours watch movies about WWII, that too is history and ‘depressing.’ It is imperative that people of all colours educate themselves on the topic and history of racism. Just because it has never happened to you, and may never, doesn’t mean it’s not important. WE globally need to educate, understand and support each other openly and unashamedly when it comes not just racism but prejudices in general.
Please listen to this podcast. I am pretty sure you will learn at least one thing from it.
