  • When Hosts Become Ghosts
    Jul 13 2023

Why didn’t your interview get published?

Why do hosts sometimes ghost their guests?

Maybe you’ve had the experience of being a guest on someone else’s podcast and later on discovering that episode not only hasn’t been published but the host isn’t responding to messages. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons this happens and what you can do about it.

Is it just the host to blame when an episode doesn’t get published? What can you do as a guest to make it more likely that your episode will get published and that the host won’t ghost you?

2 things fill my heart with joy: one is people sharing my episodes because they've been helpful and hopefully entertaining, and the other is people leaving reviews for Podfluence on Apple Podcasts or PodChaser. Either of these will earn my ever-lasting gratitude and both might just get you on my Christmas card list.

  • Podcast Guesting for Business Owners | The Queen of Podcast Guesting Christine Amerman
    Jun 16 2023

When you’re presented with the choice of spending $1000s on FB ads, sprinting on the content creation treadmill or choosing the road less travelled as an ace podcast guest, how can you know which is right for you?

I first encountered Christine Amerman on LinkedIn. I saw her profile headline saying she was the Queen of podcast guesting and I knew I had to find out more. I reached out and we managed to connect but it took a while before we got to have a proper chat. In the meantime, I heard her being interviewed by my good friend Kevin Chemidlin at Grow The Show and I was so impressed by how she showed up as a guest, I doubled my efforts to get to speak with Christine and set up an interview.

Christine will share with us why her years of media experience led her to podcast guesting as a marketing strategy and why she went on to start her own show Podcast Guesting for Profit.

What’s the difference between showing up and REALLY showing up? Should you be starting your own podcast sooner than later? How podcasting and podcast guesting can save you time in your business and why quality trumps quantity every time.

Christine’s podcast is called Podcast Guesting for Profit, which I can highly recommend checking out. Christine has a free offer for everyone here which shows you 20 ways to monetize one podcast interview and I know Christine would love it if you connect with her on LinkedIn.

  • Are you just kidding yourself? Do you have what it takes to make a business work?
    May 26 2023

Do you ever wonder if you're just kidding yourself about being in business as a coach, speaker or consultant?

Are you one of the many who talk a good game but don't deliver the goods or one of the people who get stuck in overthinking things to the point of inaction?

Do you have realistic expectations and are they based on the action you're going to take to achieve the outcomes or... are you just kidding yourself?

This week I wanted to try out a somewhat more freeform style of episode, more like a fireside chat. Let me know if you like it or think it was a mess. Next week I'm bringing you my chat with The Queen. No, not Camilla, Christine Ammerman, the Queen of Podcast guesting. Don't miss it.

  • How to overcome resistance to making phone calls and why it matters
    Apr 28 2023

Why is it that most of us will do just about anything to avoid picking up the phone and calling someone, even when that call might get us a new client or booking?

Coaches and speakers need to be good at picking up the phone. Why? Because in most situations of getting a new client or booking, you're going to make a lot more progress speaking to relevant people than you ever will sending emails and SMS messages.

I'm not saying you can't make sales and bookings without making calls but I am saying that your ability to close the deal will increase when you pick up the phone (or hop on Zoom).

I'm using this episode to explore what I think are some of the key resistance factors and how I overcame them. This really does come only from my own experience and not from any specific research, although some of the wisdom and guidance I have received in this area may well come through and is certainly relevant.

Getting good at something most people aren't willing to do will set you apart. Currently, especially in the world of high-ticket sales, it's proving to be one of the most effective strategies for growing your community and increasing sales. Best of all, you'll relate more to clients and customers, building relationships in a way that most others aren't willing to do.

Be sure to check out Episode 96 with Weny Harris on How to warm up your cold calls and if you want to know more about Wendy, you can find her on LinkedIn.

  • How to be a mediocre podcast guest
    Mar 29 2023

In this episode of Podfluence, we tackle the issue of lacklustre podcast guests and offer advice for those aiming to elevate their performance.

I've noticed that many people shy away from speaking up online due to a fear of negative reactions, resulting in bland and unremarkable content. To combat this, I urge you to turn up the dial on your personal energy and express your passions and convictions wholeheartedly.

Additionally, I stress the importance of tough love - being willing to challenge clients and respectfully disagree with others, while still remaining positive and kind in feedback delivery.

Ultimately, I believe that being memorable requires standing out, and the only way to achieve that is by authentically and passionately embodying your work.
