Compelling listening

A thorough, balanced and gripping investigation into a real life drug drop and its consequences on the lives of five men convicted. Raphael Rowe is such an excellent presenter - he carried me through the story with its twists and turns expertly and with real empathy. The ending left me hanging. I can't stop thinking about it. Fantastic story production. I thoroughly recommend listening.

Circumstantial?

Good podcast, nicely explained and fairly presented. I’d like to hear Raphael’s story as a podcast if not done already. I came away leaning towards a guilty verdict but there are real issues with aspects of the case for sure and credit to the parties involved for being interviewed, especially family members.

A documentary really.

Narrator was good but story rather long and repetitive in places...Shame no conclusion could be reached...

No real conclusion, very good series but..

Because of the way the story has unfolded and the facts are still in the air, there isn't a conclusion yet, so listeners are left in limbo at the end. I hope in the fullness of time there will be more information forthcoming and the men will have some resolution!

Innocent or guilty?

Wow this story unraveled into something much more then it first appeared to be.
Great narration and great to actually hear from some of those involved.

Please read the court documents

After you have listened to this please search for the R v Beere and Payne (Freshwater Five) court of appeal documents. Not really too sure why these people warrant such a high production value Audible backed documentary. It is an interesting listen but everyone involved is very guilty.

If i was jury

Interesting and well explained podcast. If i had been in the jury. It would, based on british court rules, be not guilty, beyond all reasonable doubt, despite the brilliant info you found out. For me the fact the drugs were not found on them and I am assuming nothing in the original fisherman’s background was dug up for court to support it. Then it is based purely on the heresay of the police plus 2 different types of maritime data that give different readings.
I feel the proof of evidence is well below what is required for a british court. Sadly if police say they saw something then no further evidence is required it seems, even though nothing was photographed or filmed.

Guilty or Innocent?

An excellent Podcast series - are the Freshwater Five guilty or innocent - I want to say innocent, but a nagging doubt remains in my mind.
