  • Making a Fresh Start: Elmore's Homelessness Project
    Mar 30 2023

In this podcast, we speak to Art Lagun (Multiple Needs Case Worker), Tracy Jesson (Embedded Homelessness Worker) and Nataleigh Bateman (Team Manager, Floating Support Services) about Elmore's Homelessness Project in which the team were embedded within O'Hanlon House for this new pilot.

They talk about the client groups that they worked with as part of the project, the challenges that they faced and the unique support that they were able to offer as workers from an outside organisation coming into O'Hanlan House to improve the lives of people experiencing homelessness.

Many people who are experiencing homelessness have multiple and very different needs, and working with small case loads allowed the Elmore team to provide tailored support to every person they worked with. Not only did the clients themselves benefit from this pilot scheme, so to did the team at O'Hanlon House - and we very much hope that this work can continue in the future.

  • The Campaign Bootcamp Podcast (Episode 2): Brittany Mulhearn & Michelle Sorrell (Save the Children)
    Dec 21 2022

In this podcast series, The Campaign Bootcamp Podcast from Elmore Community Services, CEO of Elmore Tom Hayes speaks to successful campaigners to hear their stories, to find out what drives them, and to get some useful hints and tips for other people looking to campaign on an issue that's important to them.

In this episode Tom is joined by Brittany Mulhearn and Michelle Sorrell, two campaigners from Save the Children. Michelle is part of the award winning Parent Campaigner Network at Save the Children and has lots of lived experience in this area as a single mother on Universal Credit, and Brittany has been a campaigner since leaving university and leads much of Save the Children's work on domestic poverty campaigning.

Brittany and Michelle talk about their different routes in to campaigning, and how their backgrounds have shaped their approaches. They also talk about how important creativity is in campaigning, especially in today's world - and they give some brilliant practical tips about working on campaigns in partnership with other organisations or campaigns that involve building communities.
