  • From Niche to Norm: The 'Tanning' of American Minds | Essay |
    Sep 23 2023

🔴 Hip Hop culture has undeniably helped create a 'tanned' America, where traditional racial and demographic boundaries are increasingly blurred.

This "mind-set" transcends basic classifications, focusing instead on shared values and aspirations.

Originating as a countercultural movement, it has become a universal language that values authenticity and self-expression, influencing how we think and interact.

In this episode, I share some insights into how people and most importantly, businesses must adapt.

Marketers who fail to adapt to the 'tanning effect' and the resulting shift in marketing strategies risk becoming culturally obsolete,

Missing the opportunity to authentically connect with an increasingly diverse and value-driven consumer base.

Let me know what you think. Would love to hear your thoughts.

  • The Collective Genius: A Blueprint for Creative Leadership | Essay
    Sep 20 2023

    🔴 Hey Family,

In this weeks class  I explored a framework that pushes the envelope in leadership and collaboration.

I believe that Linda Hill's 'Collective Genius' is a transformative framework that is setting new standards for what creative leadership can and should be.

Unlike traditional leadership theories, Collective Genius exceptionally concentrates on the community's role in innovation.

It contends that true groundbreaking solutions are born from ecosystems where problem-solving is a shared, collective endeavor.

This framework equips organizations to not just adapt but to be the architects of change.

If you're genuinely committed to staying ahead in innovation and creating a culture of collaborative brilliance

    Take a listen.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

  • Former President F.D.R. a Hip Hop Pioneer? | Lecture | Hip Hop Culture & the New Economy
    Sep 14 2023

    Send us a text

    🔴 Hey Family,

Today, I am sharing this week's lecture from my Hip Hop Culture and New Economy class. I made a bold claim to the students when I argued that former president Franklin D. Roosevelt was a Hip Hop pioneer.

My students looked at me like I was nuts ...but that's okay.

I kinda like it...made the discussion a little more interesting.

Now, I understand that it may be a stretch, but let me explain...

Listen to the lecture and let me know your thoughts. I'd love to hear them.

    Talk to you soon.

    Much Love,
    Dr. Jae

    Hey Family,

Ever wondered about the concept of a colorblind society and its impact on our daily lives?

In this episode, I get into this topic, exploring its origins, implications, and real-world impact.

  • Progress Over Perfection | Essay
    May 31 2023

🔴 Exploring the destructive habit of constantly comparing ourselves to others, offering practical strategies to shift focus towards personal growth and self-improvement.

    Hey Family,

In this episode, I take a deep dive deep into the concept of "comparison to others is the thief of joy."

We all know the feeling – seeing others succeed can sometimes cast a shadow over our own achievements. But it's time to change that perspective.

Here's what I cover in the episode:
✅ The pitfalls of constant comparison and how it robs us of our happiness.
✅ Why comparison isn't always bad – if used as a tool for growth and motivation.
✅ The benefits of competing with ourselves, setting personal goals, and celebrating our victories.
✅ The concept of "progress over perfection" and how it can boost our self-esteem.

    The most important takeaway?

Your biggest competitor is the person staring back at you in the mirror.

Each day is an opportunity to be a better version of yourself than you were yesterday. Embrace progress, not perfection, as your goal.

Interested in learning more? I invite you to take a listen, apply the ideas, and share your experiences.

Let's turn comparison into motivation and make our reflections our only competition
