  • Episode 44 - 6 Easy Ways to practice being your own career coach
    May 1 2024

In this weeks episode of Career Espresso I'm sharing six tried and tested self-coaching techniques that I use with my clients that you can adapt to be your very own career coach.

This was inspired by the main reasons that clients get in touch to work with as a career coach. More often than not they are feeling stuck, in need of motivation or they need to be held accountable to get the important stuff in their careers done. Whilst these are all excellent reasons to start working with a coach, it's also important to consider how you can adopt some of the mindset management techniques that a coach will use to help you get focused when you need it most.

  • Episode 43 - Why you're feeling stuck in your career (and what to do about it)
    Apr 24 2024

Feeling stuck at work is a very common experience and a main reason that clients reach out for help to a career coach, but it's important to figure out what to do next.

Listen to this week's episode where I'll be covering seven ideas to help you get unstuck:

    1) The activity removes doubt principle

    2) Asking 'what' instead of 'why'

    3) Avoiding excuses that keep you stuck

    4) Evaluating your career skills and recognising their value

    5) Looking for growth opportunities

    6) Asking for help and growing your network

    7) Facing your fears and embracing personal responsibility

As ever the episode ends with this weeks career coaching questions which uses the concept of 'Future You' to help you get unstuck.

  • Episode 42 - Brilliant career advice from women who have "been there and learned this"
    Apr 17 2024

Lately, I've been doing a bit more mentoring, and this has involved working with women who tend to be earlier on in their career journeys. As ever, I started a session recently by asking if my mentee had anything specific in mind for our meeting, which is what I'd always do to begin. To which the response was, "I'd like to hear more about your career journey and if you would do anything differently."

As questions go, that was certainly one to get me thinking.

I'm not going to lie, I needed to take a moment because that felt big. So in episode 42 of Career Espresso I'm sharing some career learnings inspired by my own career journey, and the conversations I have with the amazing women I work with.

Listen to the episode now, where I share 10 valuable and hopefully inspiring learnings for you to reflect on. As always, I end the episode with a coaching question and this week is all about getting unstuck.
