  • Summary

  • As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man.

When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey. Hoop and his associates uncover a nest of Xenomorphs, and hell takes on a new meaning. Quickly they discover that their only hope lies with the unlikeliest of saviors....

....Ellen Ripley, the last human survivor of the salvage ship Nostromo.

Ripley’s shuttle has docked with the Marion. She arrives traumatised, only to find her rescuers under attack by a familiar foe. To make matters worse, it seems that Ash, an android she’d thought killed aboard the Nostromo, has uploaded his AI routines into her shuttle’s computer.

Outside, the ship’s orbit is decaying faster than expected. The crew has just days to escape before they burn up in LV-178’s atmosphere.

Thought I knew the story - I didn't

Not the script of the film and well characterised. Rutger is a big name for a relatively small part. Ripley well acted.

listened to chapters in isolation to start then book gathers pace, last four chapters listened en bloc.

No complaints except the episodes didn't follow on automatically which was a pain - especially if listening on an echo device - since Alexa didn't seem to recognise the book.

Action packed with a slightly silly resolution

Enjoyed the story throughout, although the whole time I wondered how the author would bridge the story with the canonical beginning of Aliens. The only possible way seemed fantastically silly...and indeed it was.

The performance and production is fantastic, and it was definitely worth the time to listen.

Love these radio drama plays.

I always prefer a narrator with different voices.
This one is the next level.

Very enjoyable

I'm not a professional critic. I really loved this, very gripping and immersive, I loved the voice acting and how Ripley is just how I remember her from the films, I had to pace myself on this as I didn't want to go through them too fast, but I loved the whole thing. Highly recommend!

Must Listen!

Great characters and storyline. Was worried how they'd bridge the gap between Alien and Aliens lorewise but did the best with what they had. Great performances, Hooper may be the best side character the Alienverse has to offer.

For Alien fans it's fun story and leave you guessing what going happened. Ripley wasn't needed in story but great have her. Great cast.
