Summary

You Owe You is full of insight and guidance for those seeking their inner selves.”—MICHAEL B. JORDAN

No matter your story or your struggle, Eric Thomas—celebrated motivational guru, educator, and problem-solver to many of the top athletes and business leaders—will “help you work harder, discover your real motivation, and crack the code of enduring success” (Ed Mylett, #1 bestselling author of The Power of One More)

If you feel like success is for others, that only certain people get to have their dreams fulfilled, Eric Thomas’s You Owe You is your wake-up call. His urgent message to stop waiting for inspiration to strike and take control of your life is one he wishes someone had given him when he was a teenager—lost, homeless, failing in school, and dealing with the challenges of being a young Black man in America.

Once he was able to break free from thinking of himself as a victim and truly understand his strengths, he switched the script. And now, with this book, Thomas reveals how you, too, can rewrite your life's script. With support, he recognized that his unique gift is being able to capture the attention of all kinds of people in all kinds of settings—boardrooms, locker rooms, churches, classrooms, even the streets—thanks to his wealth of experiences and command of language. Today, Thomas considers himself blessed to speak to an audience that is as large as it is diverse, from the rich and famous to kids struggling in school to young men in prison hoping for a new start.

Thomas’s secrets of success have already helped hundreds of thousands on their journey, but this is his first guide to show you how to start today, right now. These critical first steps include deeply understanding yourself and the world around you, finding your why, accepting that you may have to give up something good for something great, and constantly stretching toward your potential. No matter where you are on your journey toward greatness, you owe it to yourself to become fully, authentically you. And Eric Thomas’s You Owe You can help get you there.

Critic reviews

“The first time I heard ET’s voice, I became an instant fan. If you’ve ever been to church and you hear the pastor speaking, and you think, Man, he must be talking to me, that’s how it is to hear ET speak. It always feels like he’s talking directly to you. He shows up 100 percent every time without asking for anything in return. And it’s not just for me. It’s for everybody. I’ve seen him give his phone number out to kids because he could tell they needed someone to talk to. He does it because it’s his calling. It’s his calling to coach us all in whatever way we need it. It’s his calling to be on our team.”—Chris Paul, from the Foreword

“Eric’s vision will transform perception about your mind and your heart. His words are a gift to people on a path of purpose. You Owe You is full of insight and guidance for those seeking their inner selves.”—Michael B. Jordan

“Eric Thomas moves, inspires, encourages, and challenges people to reach their full potential. You Owe You is flat-out brilliant, and he ain’t lied yet! We’ve got to look in the mirror and identify WHO and WHAT we see, and take full ownership regarding the WHY. Let’s make a commitment today because You Owe You.”Deion Sanders, Coach Prime

Awesome! Inspiring! Life changing

I loved EVERYTHING about this book. ET’s voice, his pace, his story, his evolvement, his values, his standards, his love…. I could go on. Thank you Dr ET. I have followed you and learnt so much from you over the years. I even met you in London years ago. Thank you for modelling true leadership. I love that you have evolved so authentically. Thank you for this book. I was literally clapping at the end. I wrote down points but still need to go back again to note down more points. This is a must read for everyone.

Phenomenal book - a must read for anyone who wants to live their best life

Eric speaks so candidly about his journey and tells us about the lessons he learned along the way.

He is honest about the help he received along the way, as well as, the mindset required to live an authentic life.

I’ll listen to the book again and complete all of the questions at the end of each chapter. Why? Because, I’m determined to leave this earth having lived my life the way God intended.

Eric Thomas- I salute you!

Exceptional listen!

Most audio+books touch lightly on personal development. Eric Thomas PhD, has taken it a couple of steps further by detailing the work required to fully actualise oneself & bring one's vision to reality. He does this by sharing his life story & letting the reader / listener know that they too can live their desired life, by putting in 120% intentional & purposeful effort into their life's work, as YOU & only YOU, bear that resposibility & should fully own it!
This is his best book yet, I will definitely re-listen, take copious notes & apply the lessons within this audiobook.

Many thanks to ET & the S2S Squad. Stay Blessed.

Poetry in motion

I have always been skeptical of motivational speakers as I have felt that their message has always been the same...money...money....money... However, as I listened to ET I got it. Knowing your worth as a person and as a business. Knowing that wealth is so much more than just financial or material gain but about the impact one makes wherever they are and who they are with. Taking the opportunities that others don't want to and becoming better for it. Worth it!

'You Owe You' is truly a landmark book for me and ET has helped me turn a corner, in my views, values and vision. I hope that one day I can meet this man and learn from him directly! You owe you to take time out to listen to the message and heart within this book. Get it! You won't regret it!

Awesome

I love E.T. his passion, his philosophy to being great. Its wonderful to hear how he built his empire, having a purpose to keep moving forward and to help people to become GREAT! If you've got an interest in becoming a better version of yourself, then the Hip Hop Preacher ( Eric Thomas. Phd) will help shine a guiding light for you too achieve your goals and aspersions.

Not a motivational book

Based on the title you would think it was a motivational book for your self improvement, but it's just an autobiography. Compared to his speeches you can tell the author was just going through the motions reading this audio book, not much enthusiasm to it. He's phenomenal at his job, but if you want to see his skills at full display you may want to check out his other work. He just didn't seem into putting in the enthusiasm into this boom, which again is an autobiography, not a self help.

Good but not Great!

This was pretty much the autobiography of Eric Thomas. While it was nice to hear about his story from childhood to what he is today, I was left with a empty feeling like something was missing. This is not the typical get you pumped up or masterful motivational speech. It was simply an overview of ET’s life. Just know what you’re buying beforehand, that way you won’t be disappointed with this audio book.

Very little new information.

The information was rather repetitive from his earlier book “Secrets to success.” The narrating was robotic/mono tone in some parts. ET has done great work, I’m a fan, but this isn’t his best. If you follow him already, you have most likely heard what he says in this book.

Still a fan…
