Summary

All three entries in Hilary Mantel's award-winning Wolf Hall Trilogy, brought together for the first time in audio.

In Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall trilogy, one of our very best writers brings the opulent world of the Tudors to bloody, glittering life. It is the backdrop to the rise and rise of Thomas Cromwell: lowborn boy, charmer, bully, master of deadly intrigue, and, finally, most powerful of Henry VIII's courtiers. But the bloody theatre of Cromwell's ascension will leave no one unscathed.

This collection includes expertly adapted versions of Wolf Hall, Bring up the Bodies and The Mirror and the Light alongside The World of Wolf Hall, a listening guide which explores the key themes and historical context of the novels, and offers listening group questions to discuss.

Read by Dan Stevens, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Joseph Kloska, and Anna Bentinck.

Critic reviews

[Praise for Wolf Hall] "Dizzyingly, dazzlingly good... Hugely exciting, packed full of power struggles and political machinations, but also delightfully poetic, vivid in image and phrase. A rich and subtle wonder." (Daily Mail

[Praise for Bring Up the Bodies] "The greatest modern English prose writer writing today." (Peter Stothard, Chairman of the 2012 Man Booker Prize)

Beautifully read and a joy to listen to

In common with the rest of the country I’ve been at home for over a month. I have two toddlers to entertain and love being able to put on an audio book to escape into for a while. This wonderful trilogy provided hours of blissful relief. The narrators are all excellent, as is the writing. I’ve listened every day for days and days... the only problem being I’ve started speaking like a 16th Century Duke. I wager my husband will crack up if I don’t desist.

THIS IS A READERS GUIDE NOT THE STORY!

Bad labelling by Audible here - should make this clearer this is a readers guide not the story

warning - not the full versions

Misleading - thought I was purchasing the trilogy rather a than a listening guide and abridged versions. annoying waste of a credit.

Abridged version

After feeling that the story was moving on a little quickly, I decided to compare this version to an ebook of wolf hall, and sure enough just about every second sentence has been cut. Great if you just want to get through it I suppose but it wreaks havoc on the storytelling aspect. Now I'll have to get each book separately to properly enjoy it. :/ The item description did not clearly state that it is an abridged version, so quite disappointed.

NOTE THIS IS AN ABRIDGED--VERY ABRIDGED--VERSION

I could not understand why I was so very disappointed with this book. The story seemed to jump about and lack development in key areas. Then I realised that this is a highly abridged version of the books. This is not made clear when you buy it. The Mirror and the Light alone is 38 hrs and 11 mins that's almost 11 hours more for just one of the three volumes than for this entire collection. I would strongly recommend getting the three volumes separately. I really feel very cheated.

Saved my sanity

This audiobook helped get me through a few awful days of the coronavirus.
One day I’ll read it properly but for now, it helped make a nightmarish time a wee bit easier

THIS IS AN ABRIDGED VERSION!!!!!! NOT THE FULL LENGTH SERIES

Really misleading! They should make it clear that this is not the full collection. A great read but only part of it so in my opinion not worth it

Amazing audio. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Big fan of Hilary Mantel, I was not disappointed by the audio reading of the books, I felt entranced listening to the story as if I was in the story.

Excellent

I loved it. To serve a spoilt king, poor "Cremwell". I bet this story is very near to the truth.
