Summary
Once, he was known as the Cold Ax of the North. Heads piled at his feet, and he was feared by all on the battlefield. But his people lost the war....
Now, Rothan is a prisoner. He is forced to fight as a gladiator for the entertainment of his hated Imperial enemies. Five years of this humiliating captivity, and he has almost completed his sentence. Just three more days and he is free.
However, here in this wretched Imperial City, he has come to love one thing: the desertland concubine, Bellabel. He must find a way to win her freedom, to take her with him to the North. She must be his.
And so, he enters into a bargain with the Ringmaster of the City, a bargain for her freedom, a bargain which will catapult him into a far more twisted fate than he ever imagined.

do you like sex? this book has it. i guess
The characters are niche, the story is fun. The narrator is a bit.....dull sadly Sorry mr. Mclain. But overall if you can get past all the pointless sex scenes...it can be a decent action book. It doesn't serve as a romance novel and the art on the front is interesting...but over all there are better books. give it a try if you like fantasy based novels.

I Love it
I'm in love with this narrator.
I've been waiting for a audiobook from Marco Frazetta for a while now and i wasnt disapointed
The story is beautifully paced and you almost feel what the protagonist feels.
The narrator has the gruff voice you would expect from a warrior which helps the atmosphere of the book immensely.

mostly good .....
except that the author mutilated viking culture by replacing parts that involve women with the self induced Schizophrenia that is feminism. the author also doesn't horribly execute the two morons responsible for the Jarl's heirs death a very un-viking thing to do but its ok because then the only one left is a woman that everyone likes to fill a male only role in a viking culture....
The author does a good job with the rising darkness and the chosen one to defeat it premise, fight scenes the manner in witch characters speak and act and the adult stuff are also good except for the mc especially at the end where he breaks character and does not put his duty for his homeland first.
