Summary

What's the difference between the law and justice?

Criminal defense attorney Talon Winter agrees to represent an 18-year-old man charged with a murder he didn't commit. But under the strict letter of the law, he can still be held responsible for the actions of the person who actually pulled the trigger.

The problem is, the trigger-puller is a cop. The bigger problem is, so was the victim. A high profile case with a dead police officer leads the prosecutor's office to pursue a complicated legal theory to secure a murder conviction for a possible robbery gone horribly wrong. Talon appeals to the prosecutor's sense of justice, but is rebuffed by the harshest possible interpretation of the murder statute--and the prospect of a mandatory life sentence.

Talon will battle against public outrage, an intractable prosecutor, and "the felony murder rule" to seek a just result for a young man facing the rest of his life in prison for the acts of another person.

Stephen Penner is an Amazon best-selling author with over half a million copies sold!

Winter's Reason is Book 3 in the top-rated legal thriller series featuring hard-nosed criminal defense attorney Talon Winter. Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone novel, but also follows the personal and professional growth of Talon and her friends and foes.

Good narration and story

I am not going to deny there was a tear or two and I got really emotional listening to this book - it was so well written and narrated and pulled no punches. I don't want to go into detail as this would involve spoilers. I just had to keep listening and find out what happened.

Winters Reason.

This series of books gets even better. This third book from the pen of Stephen Penner is brilliant, Talon Winter the young lawyer finds herself fighting yet another case motivated by racism and corrupt police officers with an attitude. This time the family can't even afford to pay her. A very well written story with strong characters and excellent plot. Talon Davids narration is once again brilliant, I think she has a perfect voice for this kind of book and really keeps the listener on the edge of their seat. A definite 5 star listen.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the narrator and leave this honest review voluntarily.

Gripping!!!

This was compelling, intense, and chilling to hear the accounts of the extent of corruption in blue. It even makes me ill just writing it here. This quickly grabbed my attention and kept it the whole way through to the end. Cecilia really irked and agitated me with her known suppressions and cover ups just to win, regardless of the young life she tried to destroy. The ending left me devastated 💔. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.
