Great but... but great

Great voices and very pro audio and all the obvious good things.. I just thought Stephen fry just sounds too intelligent to be pooh bear. Eeeor & Pooh lacked the adorable cute funny factor than they have on the book and even the new Disney film. But, still great.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Oh my! I adored this book. The narrators were amazing, each of them showing themselves in their best light. WOW. It left me a little emotional!

What other book might you compare Winnie the Pooh (Dramatised) to, and why?

I can't think of one. Just buy it!

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Eeyore's birthday is lovely. Christopher Robin made me want to weep.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Disney isn't everything!

Any additional comments?

Classic!

Winnie the pooh is such a classic that it was great to hear the real story! I loved piglet the most as the narrator for piglet really captured the scaredness piglet usually feels. The only thing I would improve in is that Pooh's voice isn't so deep.
But apart from that.... I loved it!

Superb

We loved listening to this audio book. We already love Pooh Bear, however this audio book brought Pooh and his friends to life in a superb way and has made us love him even more. One for all the family. My husband, who does not enjoy 'stories', was tickled listening along.

A Great Dramatization with a Perfect Piglet

This is an excellent dramatization of A. A. Milne's delightful classic book about Pooh, the bear of little brain, and his quirky friends. The different voice actors are perfect, with standouts being Judi Dench as one of the two narrators, Jane Horrocks as the husky, high-voiced Piglet, and Geoffrey Palmer as the appealingly gloomy Eeyore. Stephen Fry does a sturdy Pooh, though at times I had the uncanny impression of Fry himself standing before me rather than Pooh bear. Two narrators, one male, one female, narrate the chapters, switching back and forth repeatedly and rapidly, and after about the first chapter, I found myself enjoying the switches, as though I were being read to by two ideally witty and warm parents or grand-parents at the same time. The piano music that begins or closes chapters and accompanies Pooh's "hums" is pleasant and appropriate. The sound effects help the listener to imagine the scenes without distracting him/her from the savory text. And the dramatization doesn't abridge much; from what I could tell (by comparing the first chapter in the book with the first one in the audiobook), the dramatizers include pretty much all of Milne's words and chapters except for occasional dialogue tags that are conveyed well enough by the different voice actors.

It was very entertaining to listen to this book; I often found myself smiling and chuckling at the foolish and charming exploits of Pooh and company and wishing the book would not end.

By the way, I tried the samples of Peter Dennis reading the unabridged Pooh books and was completely turned off by the bizarre grunting-farting noise that punctuates all of Piglet's utterances. Jane Horrocks is much much MUCH more appealingly Piglet-y.

A Childhood Classic

Honestly, with all the stressful events going on in the world at the moment, I just wanted something gentle to listen to. So, having never read Winnie the Pooh, I decided to listen to the dramatized version from Audible. I wasn't disappointed.

The lovely little stories combined with a fantastic cast of narrators made this audiobook a great bedtime listen - even for a 30-year old.

I would recommend this particular audiobook to those who want a story for their children and those adults who would simply like to revisit a childhood classic.

Loving it all over again

These narrators take me back to the magic of AA Milne's beloved characters and stories.
Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer are sublime, Stephen Fry and Jane Horrocks are perfect.
At 5 years old or 50 (like me), there is much love and fun in these stories about the silly old bear.
I adored being read to as a child and still do.
Highly recommended!

Absolutely a family favorite.

Years since I heard this version and it still makes me listen, laugh, and make all the same facial expressions it once did, simply from listening so intently because it's so well done!

Great narrator and great companion to interchange withthe book

I was afraid to get this book because I didn’t know how the rest of the book was going to be narrated, but my kids (5,7) love it, they silently listen to the stories cracking up with all the sweet silliness happening in the book!

Charming and interesting for all ages!

My 7-y-o has this practically memorized. And it is one of my favorites of all time. Adults down to the youngest child all find something to relate to and chuckle at in this collection. Don’t be fooled into thinking it is like the Disney twaddle. Disney pretty much took out all the charm of the writing style. 😜
