Summary

It is London, 1914. Ignorant, enthusiastic young militants William Tully and Griselda Watkins fall in love, marry, and, leaving behind the comfortable confines of their 'war' for a honeymoon in the Ardennes, are pitchforked into the real thing.

First published in 1919, Cicely Hamilton's masterful novel—written while stationed in France—was awarded the prestigious Prix Femina Vie Heureuse. Cicely Hamilton died in 1952.
