Summary
Kayla is a 16-year-old girl who was adopted when she was little. She lives a normal life, with great friends, loving adoptive parents, and well...a not-so-great boyfriend. But the reason why she was given up for adoption was far from any usual reason. She was meant to be kept away from the Academy and anything else related to the supernatural beings that could hurt her.
Unfortunately for Kayla, it was only a matter of time before she encountered the creatures from the Otherworld, and there is just no running away from the beings that she can now see. In trying to protect Kayla by keeping her away from the Academy, she may have just been put in even more danger.

A quick listen
This story is a YA version of a ghost story. It’s a quick listen and has a spark of romance with a touch of teenage drama. It looses stars based on the narrator. She speaks clearly but she speaks in the same voice. It sometimes makes you have to guess which character is talking. There was some minor noise in the background as well during some of the recording.

Wide Awake
Kayla is the FMC and she can see spirits. She thinks she is going crazy when it starts happening. Hunter is the only other person she know that can help her. She needs to learn about her biological parents and where she comes from. This was a quick book and I enjoyed it.

Never want it to end!
First of all, I wanted to give a shout out to new Narrator of the book, Sarah McKee. For this being her first audible book, she did an amazing job of capturing Kayla's emotion. By the end of the story... she had me so sucked in, I was devastated when it ended. I hope that she continues the series.
Wide Awake was a wonderful book... I love the way the friendship between Hunter and Kayla builds though the entire book. All the twist and turns as she navigate through all the changes in her life kept me glued to the book. I completed the book in 3 hours... I think it might be a record for me. I could not put it down and could not wait to see what was going to happen on the next page.
I am looking forward to completing the trilogy!
So, get the next books done quickly please! I want more!

Good start to the series
Kayla started to see people who no one else could see but one other person. Hunter keeps trying to help her and yet she doesn’t want his help. Kayla is stubborn and doesn’t want to see these things or be different. As the book goes on Kayla starts to grow and change her views. She doesn’t know what her is or why she can see these people but Hunter is there trying to help her no matter what.

An amazing start!
I loved the story! Its an amazing start for the series! It’s a whole new take of where souls go in the after life! I feel like the narrator could have tried to distinguish her voice between characters, but besides that it was well done.

It’s a promising start
The narrator was okay I just wish she could portray all of the characters. There’s no male voice...if you don’t pay attention it can sound like Kayla is telling the story the entire time. She’s not bad but it would have helped to bring the story to another level.
The story was a bit slow, but that’s normal so that the author fills us in on all the other characters etc. The story is very interesting and I was shocked to find out what Kayla was. Looking forward to the next book.
