Badly Written Conspiracy Thriller
This is my first Patterson book and I'm not too impressed. It's the first of a two book series and it reminded me of any number of Dean Koontz government/scientist thrillers from the 1980s except not as well written! It's the usual story of hunky FBI agent meets intelligent but still quite girly cutesy vet. They end up stumbling across mad scientists and in the midst fall for each other. The first half of the book kept my interest reasonably okay but by the second half I was bored. I'm not a book snob in any way at all but this is not very written and I won't be reading the second (and last) book in the series. The story has potential but the characters lacked depth and the execution of the story wasn't done especially well. At times it became a bit annoying. I'll try Patterson again but it won't be for a while and it will be a different series.
