Summary

In July 2015, Mary Yoder returned home from the chiropractic center that she operated with her husband, Bill, complaining that she felt unwell. Mary, health-conscious and vibrant, was suddenly vomiting, sweating, and weak. Doctors in the ER and ICU were baffled as to the cause of her rapidly progressing illness. Her loved ones - including Bill and their children, Adam, Tamryn, and Liana - gathered in shock to say good-bye.

In the weeks that followed Mary's death, the grief-stricken family received startling news from the medical examiner: Mary had been deliberately poisoned with colchicine. Another bombshell followed when the local sheriff's office received a claim that Adam Yoder had poisoned his mother. But Adam was not the only person of interest in the case.

Pretty and popular Kaitlyn Conley, Adam's ex-girlfriend, worked at the Yoders' clinic. She'd even been at Mary's bedside during those last terrible hours. Still, some spoke of her talent for manipulation and a history of bizarre, rage-fueled behavior against anyone who dared to reject her. Had Kaitlyn and Adam conspired to kill Mary Yoder, or was the killer someone else entirely?

Contains mature themes.

Interesting listen

I'm from the UK, so I hadn't heard this story. Interesting listen. My only criticism would be, the information jumped around quite a bit. Other than that, worth the time.

repetitive

It could have been a good story but I didn't like the narrator and it seemed like the story was being repeated over and over. Unnecessarily long.

Riveting true story

Very good true crime story from start to finish, didn’t initially like the narrators voice, but was actually perfect for the story .
Highly recommend although very tragic and really makes you question human nature .

Terrifying

Do we really know anyone? This story is a sad reminder that kind people very often get hurt or die at the hands of those who will use that kindness to manipulate and mold people untill they are walking themselves into a toxic situation. Mary's only fault around Katie was trusting her, believing her and giving her more control than she should have had around accounts etc in her business and when Mary extended that trust, love and kindness with Katie into Mary's family she paid with her life. Adam seemed to have inherited his mother's kind nature and the co dependent relationship with Katie was so very toxic. My heart broke for the family losing their beautiful mother, broke for Adam who will forever live with.. what if I did things differently. Giving this book 4 stars because found the narration difficult to listen too. Story will leave you looking at people in your life and wondering if you really know them. Hope Marys family could find some peace with time and healing 💕

Long and drawn out

Information was constantly repeated as if we were hearing it for the first time. A very monstrous narrator didn’t help. The story was very interesting.

Interesting view of reality....Thank you

first, thank-you, thank-you and thank-you!!! Living next door to a narcissistic sociopath for 20 years and living... luckily....each time i hear am blessed to read a published story, i am comforted because all too often the non-believers are officials . They become convinced that the truth the victim reveals....targeted person, i prefer... can not be true so the target becomes the focus and the sociopath is empowered again....ours has been inflated by the officials and puppets she has brainwashed in disgusting displays of manipulation. We have had a rare opportunity to watch the show up close and personal for 20 years and i have an advanced understanding of psychology....it truly is unbeluevable, their minds....disgusting. I appreciate your well rounded analysis and it is a story i wont soon forget. Thank God there are growing numbers of people who understand your clear and concise explanation of 6 to 8% of the population....great book and education!
