Summary

Nick Wolfe is a top secret agent for an uncommonly aggressive government institution. His agency works with alien abductees in an effort to preserve public safety and homeland security. A recent abductee and returned woman named Madison Monroe falls under his charge of responsibility. Nick finds himself uncharacteristically drawn to her, to know her, to protect her.

Now, he must make a choice: adhere to his brutal tactics, training, and commitment to humanity, or devolve into a man who seeks justice for an individual?

Absolutely gripping

Now that I’ve finished this book I can safely say I still have no idea where this storyline is going in the next book, I feel that this is a win to the author. The writing style is very mysterious and ingenious. The performance is strong and captivating. I’m looking forward to the next book to see what happens next.

Super Sci-Fi story

I've had this on my TBR pile for a while and meant to get to it sooner even though Sci-Fi isn't my usual genre. Other books kept nudging their way in front of this one, as they tend do when left unsupervised. Anyway I finally gave the books on my list a good talking to and pulled this back to the top. Very glad I did. There is plenty of action and great characters along with a plot that hits all the right spots. Suspense and intrigue build as the story progresses and it finishes on a bit of a cliffhanger that left me eager for the next book in the series.

The narrator was a pleasure to listen to and fit the story perfectly.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author at my request and am voluntarily writing an honest and unbiased review.

Definitely action packed and entertaining!

From the first book I’ve read from this author I noticed she has a unique riding style and can move seamlessly from John wrote the genre. In this book Matty was kidnapped by aliens and after returning to Earth she has picked up by what I guess is the man in black. From the first time Lieutenant Wolf Cesar though there was something about her that cuts through his hard exterior and causes him to want to save her from the atrocities she will be submitted to in the highly secure underground bunker where she will be interrogated. Taking a chance he helps her escape in at the same time the two aliens they have deep in the facility has found A way to release all the inmates in the underground prison. Now having said this let me blow your mind by saying this is all happened before chapter 6. This book is so action packed and so good you will not want to turn it off put it down be interrupted this is a book that you will be totally focused on and despite whatever else you have to do be sure and do it before pressing play on this Book and I haven’t even got to the narrator he is if not the best one of the best narrator I have ever tell a story. He tells it as if it was really him going through it it sounds so believable. I wish I could put this book up for an award for story and narrator because it really is a perfect five star read. I highly recommend this book.

Interesting Premise

This was a good enjoyable story, though I didn't care for the cliff hanger at the end, I really don't like when author's do this, I would much rather prefer a standalone. But maybe I will get the next story in the series when It comes out. J. Kawamoto did a good job narrating.

Not my usual genre...

I got a free code for this book, I didn't like it, it had many issues with jumping around in the man's storyline. I would rather hear the whole story from both sides, than just his story, jumping around.

Strange and Unusual Story

This short story grab me from the start, and to me it seemed that the main Character (Nick) is enthralled by the Woman that his agency is trying to capture. Narrator was good, but I was really maddened by the ending Cliffhanger.

Alien Abduction Tale

This was a well-written and entertaining novella, telling the story of a woman who was abducted by aliens (maybe). Nick Wolfe is a hard-nosed agent at a facility that deals with missing persons who were actually abductees. When Madison "Maddy" Monroe is brought into the facility, Nick is immediately drawn to her. Instead of continuing to follow the party line and see that Maddy is dissected like all the previous abductees, Nick realizes that he has to help her escape.

This was a fast-paced story, full of tension, action, and emotion. Nick starts out as an unlikable bureaucrat, but evolves into a man full of emotion. The story did end on a cliffhanger (not surprising since this is labeled as Vol. 1) and I look forward to seeing what happens in the next installment. If you enjoy stories of aliens, alien abductions or thrillers, you should like this book.

The narrator did a great job; his pacing was perfect and his performance added a lot to my enjoyment of the book. I was given the chance to listen to this audiobook by the author/publisher/narrator and chose to review it.

Interesting Story So Far

First... Thanks for allowing me to listen to your book in exchange for giving you my honest review.

This is not my normal go to type of book and the story kept me interested but was too short for me to determine if I will continue with this genre.

The narration by J Kawamoto was great and I look forward to listening to what's next in book 2!

Gripping & A Lead To...

Gripping & A Lead To... another best seller novella.
Was especially surprised to hear another great author I know, given in the acknowledgements, Marina O'Brix.

We, R had me listening to every word of the book. It kept wanting more. Was impressed by the vivid scenery described by the author and the narrator was well spoken. Flowed well as it was read and enjoyed the story line. Was intense in so many places as it kept my attention throughout.
5 STARS but wished I could have given more. An intelligent and sophisticated way of enhancing one's perception of listening without having the book in front of you.

Kudos!

Intricate and Captivating!

S.K. Ballinger is a new author to me. This novella is intriguing, intricate, fast paced and action packed! The world building is original, extremely mysterious, and captivating. J. Kawamoto did a wonderful job with the narration. I love his voice. Now, I need more! Looking forward for the next installment in the Series, to know what happens next, and hopefully to better understand this puzzling world.
