Summary

We repelled the Swarm - for now. But they won't stop: They're inhuman. They have no inhibitions. No conscience. And no mercy. But from the crucible of battle has risen an unlikely hero. Captain Timothy Granger, at the helm of another time-tested battleship, will take the fight to the enemy. He'll discover their secrets. Find their homeworld. Destroy it before they destroy ours. He will save us all. He must. Or we'll die.

Adventure Sci Fi

More of the same ‘seat of your pants’ action and intrigue building on the BSG flavoured debut. The characters and storyline develop well and the tempo is relentless. I’m more hooked than ever.

Fantastic second book! More please!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would highly recommend it to anyone, I couldn't turn it off which in my job was hard work as it's multidrop. lol But, I really enjoyed listening. :)

Who was your favorite character and why?

I have to admit, I'm really torn here. I adore Tim Granger, with his attitude and sense of humanity. But then I really fell for Ballsy (sp) Even the president grew on me!

What about Greg Tremblay’s performance did you like?

Following on from Book 1, Greg kept all the characters voices the same, they were distinct, and as soon as you heard them, you knew who they were. From the sadness of losing people, to the full on excitement of battle, there was time to get to know everyone and enjoy the full story.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I would love to! script writing is my passion, but yeah digressing here. Tag line. Mmm. Probably something along the lines of 'One man leads the fight against total annihilation, while everyone else is fighting amongst themselves.' I hate tag lines... lol

Any additional comments?

I will admit, I first listened to Greg to hear the sound of his voice for my own work, but that in no way has made me rate this book or story any higher that it truly deserves.

For some extra comments, I can say the short chapters didn't bother me as much this time around. I'd settled into the style of the story and the narration and found it much easier to flick from one side of the galaxy and character to another.

Some other parts that I really enjoyed,

I found I was left guessing all the time, who was responsible for each plot point. Issacson and Aivary, (sp sorry) were great characters pitted against each other, not knowing who to trust, then everything came to a head, well played by the President here, loved that she faked her own death to get him to talk.

The Dolmassy, I kinda had a feeling that they had something to do with Tim's healing, but wasn't totally sure. In the midst of the final battle, I was floored when they turned on the Swarm, and then it all fell into place. :) Kudos to the writer, Nick. Awesome job with deception there.

Some of my fav other moments though, were in the realizations that when Ballsy went into the singularity that he might actually come back, before then with ZacZac and afterwards when he came out with Fishtail. I have to admit I was a little concerned with his obsessing over her in the start of the novel because I didn't think they'd gotten that close, even with their combat and experience throughout the first book, even with him going to visit her parents and her son. But, it did grow on me, and I think he was just being a friend, where it felt a little creepy at first.

Bringing her back to life as a 'swam conduit' mmm now that I'm not so sure about. :)

Excited for book 3 though! When? Please let me know!

Better and better as it goes along

I had a hard time getting into this book initially, but it picks up pace quickly and gets interesting.

Humankind is under siege from the swarm, and daily battles decimate human forces, although Captain Granger seems to be able to defeat the incursion, albeit at tremendous, unsustainable cost. As the story progresses, though, the author reveals a much more intricate plot that quickly becomes interesting in a sort of Tom Clancy kind of way, and the pace of the story and the action increases right up until the end. Along the we way we get tantalizing glimpses into Granger's dreams of what happened to him when the Constitution was in the singularity. We also get some good old fashioned political conspiracy along the way, though I have to say the ending doesn't make the reader have any warm feelings towards the united earth president, even if she is working to save all of human kind from the swarm.

If you enjoyed the first book at all, you'll certainly enjoy this one, and will also want to read the third, concluding book to see how it all ends, and whether the swarm can actually be defeated, or negotiated with, or whether they have any good motivations at all.

Hard time following

The story is so tangled with deception and misdirection it is hard to follow it.

very good story but rather short

the story is very intriguing there's a lot of action and the characters are easy to follow. Great crossover from the first book. Looking forward to the third book to see how things finally turn out.

Fenrir767

Pure popcorn Sci-Fi that while fun at times degenerates into ridiculous plot twists overly simple space battles and just flounders and falls apart. I wish I liked this as much as the first and I will finish the series but not a good instalment at all

Warrior has too many sub plots that distract theme

Would you try another book from Nick Webb and/or Greg Tremblay?

Not so long as these authors attempt to lengthen the book to get wood count up

More! love these books

Very good follow up to Constitution. Glad certain plot points weren't drawn out over more books and I really enjoy the story flow. also at least this book didn't have 15 chapters in a row stating the exact same location every time. :-)

Already anticipating the next book and seeing where this story goes.

An Excellent Space Opera filled with twists and turns

Nick Webb's Constitution introduced us to Captain Granger and the plight of humanity against the Swarm. In Warrior, that story continues with further surprises and twists that you don't see coming. Webb crafts a tightly woven plot that takes you from space to Earth and back. It's an excellent story and well worth the read! I can't wait for the next book in this series!

loving this book series

Man I'm really enjoying this book series so far! Amazing character development and great antagonist, I'm definitely getting the next book and hope the story keeps progressing at this pace. Kudo's to the narrator he's doing an amazing job.
