Summary
Eric was 150 pounds overweight, depressed, and sick. After a lifetime of failed diet attempts and the onset of type 2 diabetes due to his weight, Eric went to a new doctor, who surprisingly prescribed a shelter dog. And that's when Eric met Peety: an overweight, middle-aged, and forgotten dog who, like Eric, had seen better days. The two adopted each other and began an incredible journey together, forming a bond of unconditional love that forever changed their lives. Over the next year, just by going on walks, playing together, and eating plant-based foods, Eric lost 150 pounds, and Peety lost 25. As a result, Eric reversed his diabetes, got off all medication, and became happy and healthy for the first time in his life - eventually reconnecting with and marrying his high school sweetheart.
Walking with Peety is for anyone who is ready to make a change in his or her life and for everyone who knows the joy, love, and hope that dogs can bring. This is more than a tale of mutual rescue. This is an epic story of friendship and strength.

Brilliant story of the changes a dog made to one man.
It is narrated by the author which works really well. The guy's love for his dog shines through. I feel motivated to make changes in my own life now and will re listen if I find that motivation waning. Thank you Eric and Peety.

Amazing book!
One of the best books I have read in the last few years. Absolutely upbeat, inspirational, anybody who loves an animal, has a dog and cares about health will be able to relate to Eric’s very personal and self disclosing story. A story about transformation. Cannot say enough good about this book. Have purchased three copies already for family and friends for Christmas. It is simply that good!. Thank you Eric for sharing your beautiful story. You have absolutely made a difference not just in this world through your inspiring story but in the life of Peety-A companion and friend who forever transformed you!!.... and US!!!!

Tugs at the heartstrings
I read this book while listening via Audible, as I find it keeps my attention. I love the fact that this was read by Eric, and not just a random reader. You could hear the sincerity and passion in his voice, after all... it was his story.
The only thing I did not like was the push for veganism. At times the story seemed to stray from “Eric & Peety” to “Eric the Vegan”
I have the same type of Trumatic brain injury that lead to seizures from age 14-30. I went on a ketogenic diet and lost weight and was able to get off many harmful prescription drugs. I also have rescue dogs and will always have them.
many epileptics who attempt to go vegan, will suffer more seizures. So, the audience for this type of diet should be limited.
All in all it was a great book, I’m all for clean eating, but I believe being a vegan is a dangerous path.
Hunt your own food, buy organic meat, fish etc.. stay away from processed foods and sugars.

Magic Doggy
Peety knew exactly what he was doing and he did it well! As someone who lives with chronic health issues, including pain, my heart goes out to Eric! How ironic that you would be involved with the SVHS! I live here in the Bay Area, and actually support that shelter! They do great work!
This is a great story of devotion and love- from both directions.

very inspiring
I found this story so inspiring! As an animal lover, I expected the dog in the story to be my favorite part. That relationship was just a wonderful as anticipated. I was surprised and inspired by the way Eric's life was transformed by his adoption of a new lifestyle as well as his adoption of Peety. The way Eric and Peety inspired others and continue to be so, is what truly made this story 1 I would recommend.

A Story of Mutual Rescue
Eric O'Grey had me crying within the first minute of the Dedication and guided me through an emotional roller coaster that had me laughing hysterically and and crying from empathy. The best part of the audio book is that the author is the narrator and he relives the story with each emotional moment. There is no mistaking the bond he had with Peety and both of them brought out the best in each other.

Transformative Story From The Heart
I learned of this book from a favorite podcast (@theexamroom). I was instantly drawn into Eric's story because he told it with such emotion. I instantly had great empathy for him. Then Eric moves on to break down how he was able to transform his entire life, inside and out, because he followed sound medical guidance and allowed himself to be loved by a rescue dog. I found his story to be inspiring, motivating, and a tear jerker at one point. Thank you Eric and Peety for sharing your story in such a loving way and inspiring me to live my best life (with my 2 canine furbabies!). ♥
