My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

Ryan and Maggie!
It’s been two years since Maggie’s husband Nash passed away and since then she has only been going through the motions and not really living. She has distanced herself from her friends and family until she meets her new neighbor, and he inspires feelings in her that she never expected to feel again but is she ready to let another man into her life?
There is nothing Ryan would like more than to find a woman to spend his life with however he hasn’t yet found anyone in their small town and is beginning to believe he is destined to be single. He remembers Maggie from high school, but she only had eyes for Nash. He is drawn to her in a way he never expected and is determined to be patient and understanding as he shows her that being with him doesn’t diminish what she shared with her husband.
Maggie and Ryan’s journey is at times heartbreaking and at times heartwarming as she must first heal from the past so that they can have the happiness they both deserve. The narrator conveyed not only the emotions of the story but the friendship and love that Maggie and Ryan shared as well.

A heartbreakingly beautiful small town romance
Wake My Heart is book one in the Jasper Falls series and is the story of Ryan Clooney and Maggie O’Malley.
This is a heartbreakingly beautiful story of a woman overcoming grief, picking up the pieces of her life and eventually realising that sometimes in life, despite circumstances, you can have more than one true love.
Their journey to happy ever after begins when Ryan buys the house next door to the young widow and despite the frosty reception, he makes it his mission to get to know Maggie. Poor Ryan initially has no idea what’s going on with the woman next door or the grief that still envelopes her, however once it dawns on him, he treats her with so much love, care, and respect that her walls slowly come tumbling down. Ryan shows Maggie that life is for the living and encourages her to come out from under the cloud of darkness and into the light.
Ashley Trumpler’s performance is incredible and truly gut-wrenching in parts. Ashley managed to provoke tear filled, heart hurting emotions with her portrayal of Maggie and had me swooning at just how perfect Ryan was.
I loved this slow burn, friends to lovers, neighbours to lovers, small town romance. I loved seeing Maggie blossom and Ryan coax her out of her shell. This is such a beautifully written story that tackled a hard subject tastefully. I can’t recommend this enough and am looking forward to more from this series.

BEAUTIFUL Story!
This is the first book in the Jasper Falls series, a small town romance. I love Lydia Michaels's writing! Ryan and Maggie's story is beautifully written, sweet, highly emotional, and heartwarming. Ryan is very handsome, supportive, and caring. Maggie, a widow, is beautiful, broken, and recluse. My heart broke for her. They are awesome together. Ashley Trumpler did a fantastic job with the narration. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to The Best Man, the next book in the series.

Amazing, Really enjoyed this audiobook
Audiobook review.
All the emotions!!
I listened to this series in reverse, oops. I listened to book 2 before this book (Which is book number 1) however, it did not change how I felt about the character's, the storyline or the ending. I loved every second of it. This book is filled with family, support, grief and oh my gosh the love!!
This book had me gripped from the very first sentence. I loved it! Ryan is the ultimate book boyfriend, the way he was with Maggie and the support he gave her, broke me. I literally swooned while listening to this book My heart broke for these characters! Their personal growth throughout was amazing to witness!
I genuinely cannot recommend this book enough. It was fantastic!
Also, Lydia Michael's researched Irish culture and used Paddy's day instead of Patty's day! So that was the ultimate win! Being Irish myself, I don't read a lot of books based in Ireland or about Irish families because I find myself focusing on that aspect a lot.
While listening to the accents I really started to wonder "Do I really sound like that"haha!

Amazing book by amazing cast
Ryan Clooney has finally moved out on his own and away from his big loving, overbearing, family. He felt all the pressure of watching everyone else in his family have kids, get married etc. He wanted that for himself but was waiting for the right one.
Maggie O’Malley is the widow of two years and his neighbor, she is super secluded and has been unable to move on from the tragedy that stole her husband. Every morning she spends at her husband's grave, every year she recreates his last day, just to keep the memories alive!
There was an instant attraction from Ryan to Maggie. Maggie also felt the pull but it was masked with guilt of how can I move on from my dead husband etc. this is something I'm glad I don't know what this is like but man it still hurt to read!
Wake My Heart was such a good read, a love after loss story. I was lucky to receive an audio code. so most of this was done on audio. I loved the book and the narrators chosen were so good.
This was my first book by Lydia Michaels and I loved the way she writes- very descriptive and made me feel all the gut wrenching feelings.

Bittersweet
Maggie suffers a devastating loss so she’s in no mood to social when the new neighbor moves in. Ryan is intrigued by the young widow next door. This story is a bittersweet love story and I enjoyed every second of it. The narrator did a great job of bringing life to the story.

Great Story
I only rated this 4 stars because I listened to the book on audio and didn’t care much for the narration.
I hated what Maggie had to face at such a young age, but it goes to show you that once you start reflecting back on that young, first love, that it might not have been as great as you thought it was. She loved Nash with her whole heart, but learning about Nash through her memories showed that a he may have had other dreams.
I loved how Ryan tried to be patient with her, how he tried his best to help her, but she would always push him away. Don’t get me wrong, she knew she had feelings for Ryan, but she was afraid that she would forget Nash.
All it takes for her to open her eyes to what she has, is discovering her sisters cheating fiancé.
Really liked the idea behind this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

Wake My Heart ...Stole My Heart ❤️
Wake My Heart is the first book in the Jasper Falls Series and my first book by Lydia Michaels. I love the story of Ryan and Maggie. Kate Trumpler narrations brought them to life along with the rest the characters. And boy did Lydia Michaels write about a wonderful and funny cast of characters. Maggie story starts off as a tragic one but with some tenderness and determination Ryan is able to breath life back into Maggie. Ryan's family is a crazy one and I enjoyed them so much I can't wait to start on the next book just to see what they will do next. I love Wake My Heart!

Ashley Trumpler is outstanding!
Maggie O'Malley and her husband Nash were drunk. They were returning home after an uncomfortable night out celebrating St. Paddy's Day with her sister and her newest love interest. Laughing as she tried to get the key in the lock trying to dodge her husband's hands and mouth until getting inside. Teasing that it would be easier if he had changed the porch light. As they pulled their clothes off to devour each other they promised they would be each others forever.
On her knees, she spoke telling the news of the previous day as she sipped coffee in the freezing March snow. Her fingers traced the name of her beloved Nash's headstone. A patch of ice...car totaled with his mangled body inside...and a box of light bulbs on the passenger seat. St. Paddy's Day two years ago was the last day she saw him alive.
Her sister was waiting for her as her bike pulls up to her house. She hasn't been able to drive since that horrible day and hated even being in a vehicle as a passenger. She grimaced as she approached. She was tired of everyone trying to tell her it was time to get back to living and get back out there. They knew she went to the cemetery every morning and didn't know what to do to snap her out of her grief.
Her sister hands her a card for a therapist. Urging her to talk to someone. As she places the card on the front of the fridge she notices that the house next door had sold. No sooner had she noticed the sign than a truck pulled up loaded with furniture.
Ryan Clooney and his cousin were checking out the unfinished basement of his new home. Luke was suggesting it would make an awesome man cave. Ryan didn't know who he would entertain besides his family. The sole reason he bought this house...on the other side of town. To get a breath away from all his family members. His massively huge family of cousins. He was practically related to everyone in their small town.
As they're moving his furniture into the house he wonders about his neighbor. Besides a bike moving locations from day to day he had yet to see any sign of life. Just a property showing signs of neglect.
Although this isn't the first Lydia Michaels book for me, it is the first audiobook and I was not disappointed. Like her other books, the storyline gripped me from the first word and I hated when the last was spoken. The characters are fully developed and totally relatable.
This is the first time I have listened to a book narrated by Ashley Trumpler and she might be the best narrator I have heard. She isn't just reading the story, she is living it. If they are eating she speaks like she has food in her mouth. She doesn't speak the emotions...she laughs, snorts, chokes.... You literally feel like she is before you having a conversation and not reading you a book.
Lydia Michaels has written another book that grabs you in your heart. Oh, the tears I shed for Maggie as she fought her grief of losing her husband. But with the tears, there was a ton of laughter. This is a slow-burn second chance romance, but that doesn't mean it isn't smoking hot.
I enjoyed this audio so much that I'm going to continue this series in audiobook form. And even though I have already read and reviewed book five My Funny Valentine, I can't wait to hear the audio. Lydia Michaels is on my one-click list and I look forward to hearing more books narrated by Ashley Trumpler!

Heart wrenchingly beautiful
This second chance book was absolutely great! I felt as if I were her losing my first love/love of my life. I loved watching Maggie come out of this great depression and finding happiness again. Heck, even finding the smallest bit of joy again. As someone who has been with her first love for 17 years now I can only imagine what it would feel like. Bring in Ryan, who I completely fell head over heels for right along with Maggie. Man, that man had me swooning without even trying. He had his own pain that I loved watch be broken. The narrator did really well with making me feel the different characters even reading the male roles. I most definitely can’t wait to read more about the people in this town.
I received this audio book in hopes of an honest review. I wrote this willingly and are my true opinion of this book :-)

Wake My Heart by Lydia Michaels Review
Now to start off since this is my first audiobook, I loved it. With audiobooks I can literally do whatever I want and still listen and being that way, I finished this book in two days-ish and usually takes me a couple of weeks to finish a single average book though I’m mostly going to put that I finished it so quickly on the fact that I just loved the story. To start off the book is so not my cup of tea to start off with and was just nothing that I was into besides the forced proximity, and do you know what I still loved it and I still gave it five stars even though it’s not something I would usually like but the small town, widow, guy-next-door neighbor all in there and ended up liking it. In the beginning, it was really sad, and I was like oh this is really sad, and then when the guy when the love interest comes in the play, I was going to stick around for that, and then he’s the one thing I got to say I love the most about Ryan. That is from day one with Maggie before even knew her name or anything he was always trying to make her comfortable and trying to be nice more than he would do for other people he was just from day one just instantly drawn her and of course he fell first. He fell so damn hard it was literally it was so well portrayed then there was Maggie. Maggie my girl is independent, and she is so strong to go through what she did after losing her husband literally her first everything, and just being frozen in time for two years being lovesick and heartbroken. Then this guy walks into her life and flips that all around. The story really portrays grief in a realistic sense in how there really no time limit on grieving and there is no pain limit on how much it can hurt, and it really puts in a mindset of how people think and all the unusual things that they might do when they’re going through a loss which I found really heartfelt and deep. Then on the romance side, it was so well portrayed it was so cute I just described it as cute because it was when it was the two of them alone together it was just so sweet and pure fluff. Definitely expect me to read the rest of the series in the future.

Heartbreakingly beautiful
This story is so heartbreakingly beautiful! It will pull at your heart from beginning to end. The characters are so real that it is painfully easy to become attached to them.
