Summary

One of Rosamunde Pilcher's classic novels.

Laura, newly married and ever conscious she may be living in the shadow of her husband Alec's first wife, decides to take a holiday with his family in Cornwall.

Through the long hot summer days, she is slowly charmed by the beautiful old house and the people she learns to know and love. In time her uneasy spirit is soothed by the sparkling, brilliant sea, and her restless heart finally calmed. But is this newfound tranquillity too good to be true? For with the arrival of an anonymous letter, one accusing her of having an affair, Laura's world is thrown into turmoil.

An intriguing story beautifully narrated.

Rosamunde Pilcher not only tells spellbinding stories but paints the scenes so well that you experience it all as though you were the unseen guest.
JIlly Bond a joy to listen to, is able to bring all the characters to life in such a sympathetic way that you feel you want to know more about them. A lovely way to spend time.

Good Read

Typical Rosamunde Pilcher read, so enjoyable, like all her books. Once started did not want to stop listening!

narrator

lovely book but the narrator has a rather annoying voice, which tends to spoil the enjoyment of this book

Voices in Summer

A wonderful story with fantastic descriptions of countryside, sea and sand with sunshine every day. A lovely love story to read over and over again.

Very easy listening, charming story. Haven't read / listened to a Rosamunde Pilcher I haven't enjoyed.

Lovely

Another lovely story by Rosamund Pilcher, not as good as some of her books though..Some of the voices sounded similar, so it was a bit confusing at times, but generally the narrator read it well..Always enjoy the wonderful descriptions of Cornwall ...and I love the way the author describes the character's clothing..and adds detail to everything..so the listener/ reader can really imagine it all so much more..

Narrator

This is the second audible I have listened to by the narrator, her simpering voices ruins the story. All the men sound the same as though they have something stuck in their throats, it ruins the character. The word at the end of the sentences go up with a sort of laugh. I shall only listen to Pilcher audible if different narrator

Really enjoyable read

Nice book, very addictive. Little bit predictable, but good light read and very atmospheric for anyone who knows Cornwall

llThe two things that stood out was the boring story, and the weird sounding voice over, that's 2 hours I can never get back.

I am sorry to say I was so disappointed in this book, itboredmeto death, the worst part was the voice over, she sounded like she had too many sherry,s.really does any body speak like that.It was a total waste of my credit.I fast forward ed it a few chapters in the hope it would get better, it didn't, I gave up.I have been a real fan of this author for years and couldn't believe how dreadful it was, like a gramophone record playing on the wrong speed.I am 85 years old so I don't have time to waste. I apologise for my typing errors, I am feeling fed up. D. Stone.
