This devotional is targeted at such an important age group - and Julian has done a brilliant job of appealing to slightly older boys with a tone that’s fun and accessible. I didn’t find that it distracted from the gospel message at the heart of the devotionals at all.

Each devotional is long enough to be thought provoking, and written stylishly enough to engage its readers.

I personally think the Bible is handled very well, and applied in ways that will be familiar and not foreign to boys of this age group.

The narration is very engaging and entertaining. I didn’t once get bored listening.

Bonus points for the cover - I would want to pick this up I think if I were the target audience!

This book is great for those who have boys who are being brought up in the faith of Jesus Christ. It can sometimes be very challenging for 9 to 12-year-old boys to face the challenges of daily life in a secular world where faith in Christ is not always respected. This book is written clearly and engagingly using the words, terminology, and energy of the preteens to turn their attention to God and the Bible. Best of all it uses the language of preteens such as the language of gaming and sports to help guide them into a secure place in Christ 'Jesus. Using biblical wisdom, it gently comes alongside the preteen boys and encourages them to see the world with Christ at the center which is needed in this day and age. It could be used by parents as a shared experience. The narration is very clear and each lesson starts with a relevant Bible verse and ends with a personal prayer which can help the preteen develop his relationship with Christ and how to speak to God. As a father of a preteen, I highly recommend this book.
