Summary

When Alice steps through the looking-glass, she enters a very strange world of chess pieces and nursery rhyme characters such as Humpty Dumpty, Tweedledee and Tweedledum and the angry Red Queen. Nothing is what it seems and, in fact, through the looking-glass, everything is distorted.

Narrator does impressions

The Narrator does a cutesy impression of young girl when reading Alice's dialogue - I found this tremendously strange & very tedious. Couldn't listen to more than an hour.

Miriam Margolyes was brilliant

Margolyes was excellent at doing a range of character voices. Very surreal story! Not as familiar as the first Alice book

Great narration but story not as good as the first

Since I read Alice's Adventures In Wonderland last year and really enjoyed it I thought I'd read the follow up. I also enjoyed the film that came out in 2016 but aside from sharing some characters the book was nothing like the film. Also despite being a sequel this felt much more like a prequel as Alice didn't acknowledge having met some of the characters before. I didn't enjoy as much as Alice's Adventures In Wonderland but it was still good, albeit weird. The narration on this however, is excellent!

Miriam Margolyes & Scarlet Johansson work together

Would you consider the audio edition of Through the Looking Glass to be better than the print version?

Yes hearing it you understand the story better.

What did you like best about this story?

The difference between it and Alice Adventures in Wonderland.

Have you listened to any of Miriam Margolyes’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not yet. Although her and Scarlett Johansson should do a book together.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Meeting Humpty.

Any additional comments?

Not with this one.

An Excellent Narration of A Really Fun Children's Story

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. The narrator. Miriam Margolyes, is truly excellent. I read along while listening. Miss Margolyes' narration added vastly to this reading and listening experience. As for the story itself, it is very clever and witty. I think that portions of this story would make an excellent bedtime story for a child. As the story centers around a child "Alice" and kittens, it might prove somewhat interesting to a little girl. As for myself, as an older person, I enjoyed slowly working my way through the story and found it quite enjoyable. I hope to read it to grandchildren and grand nieces and nephews. Thank You...
