Summary

There are memories in the marrow.

When the Creator’s precious daughter is killed during the Saltpan War, he takes his vengeance on the children of the old Gods. Now they are destined to be reborn for eons. Eternally searching for unyielding answers. But history is embedded in the gemstones scattered throughout the Land of Man and strange magic returns to the Watchtower servants. All the while, the Goldlands distract from the lore of the old Gods in a desperate attempt to cover ancient battle scars.

Will the Watchtower servants remember who they really are before one of them destroys the world?

There is a darkside to every moon and a darkside to every God.

An Outstanding Audiobook

Thread the Bone is an incredible work of art. There was a point halfway where I wasn't sure and questioned everything I had understood to that point, then the world got flipped o its head and everything began falling into place like the most satisfying game of Tetris

The story begins in a war and introduces a creator and his daughter, along with a very elegant system of healing and rebuilding, hence the title, Thread the Bone. This, is the prologue

Two girls are consigned to be servant of two separate watchtowers at opposite ends of the world, each with a mysterious helper who brings them sustenance (as they can never leave the tower) One is from the Goldlands (Cara), a lavish place where everything revolves around gold and wealth, the other from the Darkmoors (Noomi), an untouchable, people who are seen as subhuman. Their individual personalities shine out early on and there are anchiring points in the chapter headers to keep track of the immersive and intricate arcs as they weave together.

As the story continues, we are introduced to a few more locations and a few more characters, all interacting with each other at different events through time and space

The concepts were novel and it didn't stay in one genre, creating new tropes as it went along. There are some great little pieces of humour and a little bit of spice (minimal and in context)

The book truly comes into its own at the halfway point as I have mentioned and by the end, I was so replete, satisfied and absolutely overwhelmed at how beautifully cerebral, artful and intriguing the story was, how carefully crafted and put together.

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
