Summary

Slow to start however turns into a great read
The beginning of the story is hit and miss. Parts were repetitive however if you stick with it, it starts to develop along the way. I found it inspiring at the end as it takes you through the development of growth. Overall excellent performance, however story was hard at times to want to listen to.

The year I met you
Really enjoyed this book. Keeps you wanting to hear more. Narration was very good. Look forward to reading another of Cecelia Ahern books.

A different kind of relationship story
What made the experience of listening to The Year I Met You the most enjoyable?
It was surprising. There were turns to the story I didn't expect and that kept me returning to the book as often as I could! I didn't foresee the way it would go from the title.
I also really enjoyed the narrator's Irish lilt
Have you listened to any of Remie Purtill-Clarke’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No I haven't heard Remie read before but would look out for her narration in other books.
Any additional comments?
Not a love story but a "good friend" story between a man and a woman whose relationship changes and improves over one year.

A transformative read
Going through a transition in my own life this book hit hard. I truly enjoyed it and appreciated it. Would definitely recommend!

Charming, joyous read
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would recommend because the characters are well observed and it's easy to get lost in the story as its so absorbing and well written.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed that the family structure was a bit unconventional and the way the book explores disability and promotes equality and diversity (the main characters sister heather has Down's Syndrome and the book looks at heathers relationships as well as jasmines). For this reason I found the book to be more interesting than the conventional love story and found that there were two love stories in the book not just one, I also liked that there are two potential love interests for jasmine and you're not sure till the end who she will choose. Another reason I loved this book. It wasn't too sickly sweet either there were quite intense parts to it as well which gives the book more depth.
What does Remie Purtill-Clarke bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Character, her narration was great I enjoyed it and her accent was lovely to listen to.

Not her best book
It had its charm but I found it very slow. It missed her usual spark. I felt it rushed the end and left unanswered questions.
