About this listen

Like any married couple, Allie and Tony have had their fair share of heartache. But when Tony's actions force Allie and her young sons out of their home, things take a turn for the worse. Without her husband around, Allie must cope with two inquisitive children - as well as the reappearance of her estranged father. So when her eldest Mark befriends next-door neighbour Jeremy, Allie's glad he's found a distraction. The trouble is that Mark believes Jeremy is Santa Claus and that he can put the family back together.

While Jeremy is increasingly mortified at the mix-up, a little magic never did anyone any harm - did it?

Wonderful and Heart- Warming!!

This is a great book. A lovely heart-warming story. Great story. The characters are very believable and it was a thoroughly enjoyable listen. The narration is also very good.

I will definitely be looking out for other books by this author in the future.

A winner again

What made me read this book was Caroline Lennon being the narrator. Martina Reilly writes excellent true to life stories and Caroline Lennon reads so well it is a match made in heaven for an audio book listener. I am disabled and my life is very limited but what brings it to life is listening to books like this, as well as thrillers and detective books. As long as Lennon is the narrator guarantees I will choose it.
I loved the characters in this book and I felt Ally's pain and Tony's despair. The supporting characters were all written and woven in to a rich tapestry of love, longing, despair, wishing, wanting, hurting and reconciliation. A great book up to the very end. No one can narrate as good as Caroline Lennon, I have to say that. Thank you Martina and Caroline for helping me escape for large chunks of the day for a week.

Warm, gorgeous book!

What did you like best about this story?

It was beautifully written, with rich, very likeable characters. Each one drawn so it felt like I really knew them, their strengths and their frailties. The story has sadness, human struggles, warmth and humour. All dealt with intelligently and with a light touch.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I loved it all.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but it was too long for that.

Any additional comments?

This is the second book I have listened to by this author. Both equally fabulous. I think she rates as the Irish Jojo Moyes, being just as good and showing the same ability to write stories with all of the complexities of human life, dark and light, without straying into cliche. Caroline Lennon was the perfect narrator for them and was wonderful as always.
