Summary
When life seemed its worst, Gresham awaited.
Julia Hollis’ opulent life in Victorian London crashes to pieces when her husband passes away. Worse, she is told by his bankers that he gambled away their fortune. Now the family’s hope rests on The Larkspur, an old abandoned coaching inn in the quaint village of Gresham.
Driven by dread and her desire to provide for her children, Julia decides to turn the dilapidated inn into a lodging house. But can she - who was accustomed to servants attending to every need - do what needs to be done and cope when boarders begin arriving? And then an eligible new vicar moves into town....

Excellent Book
I absolutely love Lawana Blackwells books. She is an amazing writer and I wish every single one of her books was on Audible. Hopefully the 3rd book in this series is coming soon. It’s my favorite one!! Looking forward to seeing more from Mrs Blackwell!!

A comforting favorite
I love this series dearly and revisit it often. The quiet life of Gresham soothes away stress and fatigue almost as well as Karon's Mitford. Beverley Crick became a favorite narrator almost immediately.

A Wonderful Book
This is a book that I go back to, again and again. Whenever I am in search of an old friend, I can journey back to Gresham.

heavy-duty religion (Christian)
more story, less preaching would be good.
felt like someone was beating me with a Bible at times.
hard to stay in the story with that kind of lecturing.

Great if you’re a Christian
This is a sweet story narrated by one of my favorites. I wasn’t able to finish it because there was just too much proselytizing.
