Summary

At the age of 30, Robin is an Earl at last - but not the Earl of Waringham, the ancestral title that he still hopes to win back one day from the evil Mortimer.

England has seen other changes too: Edward III is dead and his successor, the boy king Richard II, is at odds with his uncle, the Duke of Lancaster. The introduction of a hated new poll tax brings about one of the most dangerous episodes in English history and Robin finds himself embroiled in the Peasants’ Revolt.

As the years pass, his old enemies continue to move against him and with the stability of England under increasing threat from an unpredictable and incompetent King, Robin finally joins forces with Lancaster and his son, Henry, in a revolution which aims to secure the nation’s future. And as he finds himself helplessly in love with the wife of his oldest and most implacable enemy, the stage is set for Robin’s final showdown with Mortimer.

In the third instalment of a six-part epic, Medieval Europe is brought to life in a multi-cast drama based on the novels by Rebecca Gable, author of the Scarlet City trilogy.

Featuring: Tom Alexander, Gareth Armstrong, Maxim Baldry, Tim Bentinck, Nick Brimble, Charlie Condou, Clare Corbett, Raymond Coulthard, Gareth David-Lloyd, Jacob Dudman, Richard Earl, Barnaby Edwards, Jonathan Firth, Genevieve Gaunt, Raj Ghatak, Helen Goldwyn, Derek Griffiths, Jonny Hibbs, Edward Holtom, Will Howard, Anthony Howell, Joe Jameson, Mack Keith-Roach, Rosalyn Landor, Chris Lew Kum Hoi, Damian Lynch, Michael Maloney, Miriam Margolyes, Leith McAllister, Glen McCready, Harry Mead, Tony Millan, Darin Nagada, George Naylor, Nicholas Pegg, David Seddon, Sam Stafford, Dan Starkey, Joseph Timms, Alexander Vlahos, Lizzie Waterworth-Santo, Finty Williams, Gabby Wong and Becky Wright.

Directed by Barnaby Edwards.

Superb historic novel and series

Against a highly accurate historical background we continue to follow Robin of Waringham through the tempestuous times of the 14th Century. Excellent narration and dramatic performances support this exciting story. A great listen!

Just gets better and better

Really enjoyed this one. Had everything you could imagine. so much excitement, sadness, intrigue, plots list is endless. Gaining and losing characters you grow so fond of. Relaxing then edge of seat material. Narration are fantastic as ever! Cannot wait until the next.

Unbeatable

Wonderful stuff from Gable yet again. If you loved Jonah, you'll love Robin and his extended family even more. I'm pained that I have to wait a year for volume 4!

Great book- sad Audible have not produced the last 3 books

What a great set of books, I physically could not stop listening.
Well narrated, but it is just such a shame that audible have not finished the series. In fact it is making me want to return the books on principle that you cannot get to the conclusion of the story.

Superb! (Sequence issues now fixed)

I’m completely caught up in this entrancing series of books, loving the acting and, especially, the wonderful narration from Miriam Margolyes.
Being a fan of historical novels anyway, I was prepared to like the story, but the detail and pace seems very well judged..plenty of facts and dates and battles, but lots of characters and interesting insights into life in the period, brought fully to life by the acting, special effects and the background music..
I’m now really looking forward to the next in the series!

Wonderful

Excellent performances and a fascinating period of history in which to set a ‘fly on the wall’ novel. Like all historical novels you have to remember that it isn’t actually history and there are inevitable anachronisms, escapes that are too good to be true and a glossing over of some of our ‘heroes’ pretty well established real life flaws but nonetheless these are characters, real and imaginary, that you care about as a reader. Wonderfully paced and exciting even when you know what happens!
