About this listen
Oxford, Spring - 1354.
When the series of accidents to the building of the chapel at Queen’s College begin, they do not appear a cause for concern, but they grow more serious, and stonemasons are injured. Nicholas Elyot becomes involved after it is discovered that an intruder has reached the college by way of his garden. When Jordain Brinkylsworth’s youngest student goes missing, it seems at first that his disappearance is unconnected, yet he is one of the ‘poor boys’ supported by Queen’s. Surely this serious and studious boy cannot be responsible for the troubles?
And then someone is killed.

So Sad
Unfortunately Ann Swinfen passed away on 4th August 2018, and so there will be no further mysteries for our beloved bookseller. I am so sad.
I have grown to love Nicholas so much, along with his family, friends, and the "will they - Won't they" love story with the Lady Emma.
She leaves us a series of six wonderful books, full of life, full of history, full of great adventures
I guess the Author has left us forever wanting more.

Fairly Good
This book does waffle on a bit, but is a good follow up in the series. I did like it. But sadly, we shall never know if Nicholas and Emma were able to get married.

Feel bereaved for the loss of these stories
and their characters. So sorry to hear of the authors death. She must've been a lovely person to create such people and the narrator brought them to life for me.
I really enjoyed this series and being in the 14th century for a while.

Stone mason’s tale
I love this series. I enjoy learning of life in medieval times. Nicholas, Margaret and Emma seem real and likeable. I hope there is someone who could take up where Ann left off.

Agonisingly obvious story but lovely family descriptions as always
As always, there are lovely descriptions of Oxford of the family of the children and the food and the countryside but the story was so screamingly obvious and so desperately slow that times I felt like just stopping. However, if you simply accept that you’re going to know who did it when how and pretty much why in the first couple of chapters then you can still enjoy it

Good story
This is the last in the series and a good story for fans. The actual mystery tends tp take a back seat at times.
There are unanswered questions to the characters lives as Mrs. Swinfen died before completing the story arc. Very sad. Philip Battley does a good job narrating for the most part, sometimes his voice characterisations are muddled and difficult to discern who the speaker is.
It is clear that this story was not meant to be the series finale, but worth a listen.
