About this listen

Set 16 years after the events of The Exiled Earthborn, this explosive conclusion of the Earthborn trilogy tells the story of two brothers, the sons of Lucas and Asha, tasked with surviving the Xalan war to ensure the continued existence of the human race.

Noah, an orphan from Earth's last days who, as a child, was smuggled to safety across the stars, is now nearly a man and a leader to the young enclave of Earthborn who reside on Sora. When the tranquility of their settlement is shattered by a shocking assassination attempt, Noah turns to his combative younger brother, Erik, Lucas and Asha's only child by blood, for aid. Their journey takes them to the remnants of a dead planet, an outlaw-infested space station, and back to Sora, whose inhabitants are bracing for a final showdown with the bloodthirsty Xalans.

They find themselves facing a new evil: the omnipotent Archon, who is somehow controlling the whole of the Xalan horde, and his bloodthirsty lieutenant, the Black Corsair, who has an unmatched taste for brutality. The Archon, so-called God of the Shadows, has unearthed knowledge that could wipe both Sorans and humans alike from the face of existence. The descendants of the Earthborn must uncover the true nature of the Archon and the Xalans before he burns everything they know and love to ashes.

Great series and performance by the narrator!!

As others have said, there are similarities with other books, but that is where it stops.
The initial part of the book appears a little loose, in the sense that the post apocalyptic theme seems very samey (which is very earlyin the firstbook), however, as progression through the series will unveil, there are many things that were not mentioned... for good reason.

I have to applaud the author for the subtle (in some cases, not all) reflection on the different definitions of faith, be it religious or otherwise... Kudos

The narrator... totally bad.... sorry.... bad ass! whether purposefully or not, some emotion comes through the storytelling, which can be distracting. Along with the tempo and timbre, for me at least, matched the essence of the story , to sweep me through the chapters.

Good finish to the story with a few caveats

At few occasions, the wrong person's name is being said from the narrator's perspective. "Erik thought", when its Noah in the situation.

One big plot hole.

A weapon's activated ability is never used.

quite a good haul for a freebie!

it was a good little pastime. I enjoyed it and although it stretched the bounds of likelihood at times (given that it's a sci fi) it was still good. 3 books gratis. nice.

Great Trilogy!

Really good narration, and a great story overall.

I really liked how there was nothing Hollywood or fairytale about the storyline, there was a sense of realism to the love and loss. Things didn’t turn out perfect, the characters were all flawed, the twists and turns were also well-timed.

I would look for more by this author.

A great finale to the three books.

Sometimes the ending of books and films can be disappointing, but not this one. This book had highs and lows in the storyline and lots of action. Love the characters, including the new ones. Victor Bevine's narration brought the characters to life and his nuances made the story addictive, making it great to read/ listen to.

Great flow

Felt quite sad when I finished the last book. I ended up investing in all the characters and the story had a good balance, glow and some twists.
