Summary

An almost impossible puzzle with supernatural trappings.

In a remote house in the middle of Dartmoor, six shadowy figures huddle around a small table for a seance. Tension rises as the spirits spell out a chilling message: ‘Captain Trevelyan… dead… murder.’

Is this black magic or simply a macabre joke? The only way to be certain is to locate Captain Trevelyan. Unfortunately, his home is six miles away and, with snow drifts blocking the roads, someone will have to make the journey on foot…

Great easy listen

I can't say there were any particular momentous moments but there also weren't any dull bits. The narration was spot on and the variety of voices splendid. All in all I would highly recommend this story. Would be a great addition to take on holiday.

Classic Agatha Christie at her best

An intriguing tale, beautifully read. Amazing characterisation and a real sting in the tail. What more could you ask?

Any additional comments?

Another great audiobook. Wonder why we cannot buy the full Harper Collins set in UK Unless all the ones I have already bought were counted against cost I would not buy it but if a new christie fan would be superb

Well plotted story with a surprise outcome.

I purchased the kindle version and the audio book together. I preferred the reading rather than the listening. Although Hugh Fraser has a lovely voice he is not good at portraying characters. It wasn't always clear which of the male characters was speaking. Some of his interpretations were exagerrated and this spoiled the story. There was a production issue: the chapters listed did not correspond with the chapter being read.

Brilliant

An Agatha Christie crime novel without Poirot, Miss Marple, or Tommy and Tuppence, yet it still delivered the murderer plus motive at the end. Brilliant story from the Queen of Crime.
