About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

To be a bookseller or librarian...

You have to play detective.

Be a treasure hunter. A matchmaker. A brilliant listener.

A person who creates a kind of magic by pulling a book from a shelf, handing it to someone and saying, 'You've got to read this. You're going to love it'.

In this love letter to the heroes of literacy, James Patterson uncovers true stories from booksellers and librarians. Prepare to enter a world where you can feed your curiosities, discover new voices, and find whatever you need.

Meet the smart and talented people who live between the shelves - and who can't wait to help you find your next great book.

A fascinating account of real people across the USA who love the jobs they do with books and the readers of books. It’s a light listen, in places the substance is repetitive (for example most booksellers enjoy the same aspects of their jobs) but there are a few more interesting experiences and issues related for example to the problems librarians face when asked to remove certain books. Also some original ideas offered by librarians for attracting young people. The voices on this audible are engaging. I enjoyed the varied accents and speed at which the delivery is made.

Highly enjoyable listen
