Just Brilliant!

One of my most beloved books from childhood, now read by a very competent and fitting reader and recorded professionally. I used to read the printed book and listen the story from audio casettes---both translated into Finnish---and now I can refresh my memories with this one. I've been waiting and hoping that the books of the Adventure series would be reread as modern audiobooks using modern recording technology, and *finally* it has been done. Thanks a million and full marks on this one to the publisher, reader (Thomas Judd), and the recording engineer(s)!

I would have hoped sound effects and more music in the style of the first books of the original Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew series that are currently being sold as audiobooks, but fortunately at least a title music in the style of Pirates of the Caribbean has been added, although it sounds too much of being made using cheap sample libraries than being recorded with a real symphony orchestra.

good for young children

I listened to this because i had hoped it would be rather like 'The Famous Five' fun even for 'we older children,( adults' )!
This audiobook is much more suitable for young children and doesn't really cross over into the adult market that said I can imagine that it is a jolly romp for youngsters (which is what the book is aimed at). The narrator isn't very good, and even manages to make the children either sound camp or a bit too 'jolly hockey sticks annoyingly so !
