Summary

Life is stressful, anxiety-provoking, and frequently traumatic. The result is that many of us are hurting, and often we are unaware of how deep our hurt runs.

The painful experiences we go through aren't simply "over and done with" once we pass through them, however. They each leave their mark, etched deep into both the psyche and the body, affecting how well we function from this point onwards.

The Revolutionary Trauma Release Process shows, in simple language, the effects that stress, anxiety, and trauma have on our mental well-being and our physical health. We discover that trauma is par for the course in any life, but that even the most damaging events can become a pathway to a more fulfilling and meaningful experience.

The magic of the approach of David Berceli's Trauma Release Process is that it can be utilized by anyone, any place on the planet, even when professional help is beyond the individual's reach. A person can use the process either as a stand-alone stress reduction or trauma release process or in conjunction with other modalities. The exercises are versatile and can be used to affect a wide range of hyperarousal states such as anxiety, irritability, exaggerated, startle response, etc. These exercises can help to reestablish a person's psychophysical homeostasis by relaxing body tension and returning them to an emotionally healthy place.

Really helpful!

I liked this book. I listened to it in about four sessions on Audible. Having seen a great YouTube clip about the trauma release process, I had already begun to experience the calming effects of doing the exercises, which made me well disposed to the book. Although the reader performance is a little robotic for me, the exploration & description of trauma patterns in humans around the world still comes through. And I felt reached and supported by the content at a time of quite intense despair and distress in my life, so, given that, it’s got to be an over all five star review from me.

Great topic but half the journey.

I was really surprised when the book ended before the exercises had been talked through. I appreciate the pdf but there should be guidance too. Even by way of a Part II.

Brilliant

I think his book is an absolute master piece if you are going through trauma this is the book for you. The explanation and personal story of the authors experience dealing with trauma is the most easily understood and unidentifiable i've come across. A must read for any survivors of trauma or anyone suffering from PTSD

2 last chpts are exercises, rest is horror stories

The war and other dark themes and stories of trauma may be triggering and disturbing for empathic trauma survivors ,so skipping to " part 2" , last 2 chapters is probably best,if you want the content in audio format. Sadly the horrible stories are mixed in with some of the science of trauma,a rather stupid thing to do when most of their audience will be traumatised people looking to feel better, not worse. You don't need to know the science behind how it works for TRE (trauma release exercises) to work and there are better books on the neuroscience of trauma that focus on the science over horror stories and disturbing anecdotes..See content warnings below. (If looking for a neuroscience book,do check the reviews & the Story Graph website has content warnings on most but not all books so you can make an informed choice and not buy something that is disturbing stories)

I was looking for information on inducing the tremor,I've had no issues but a friend has.Thankfully this was included in the Plus catalogue,I'd be disappointed if I paid for it . I'm glad my 1st introduction to TRE 6 months ago was not this book but a free YouTube video and the Long term TRE community on Reddit,I've been practicing in micro doses,we're talking seconds increasing to one minute 6x a day or less for complex PTSD and it's been the best tool even if I am limited by what my nervous system can tolerate and process in a day. Don't let this book put you off and most of all do it safely in doses you can tolerate, there's a video on "sensitive clients" that covers starting TRE if you have Any trauma.Better to start too small and gradually increase than do too much and cause yourself additional suffering that will put you off for life.

The accompanying PDF is good, videos may be easier to follow on YouTube or Trecourse dot com which is free.

One chapter at the end gives a few instructions

The last 15 minutes gives some instructions on how to do it and there is a PDF of the exercises, the rest is an autobiography and feels like a college student who had to pad the word count. The instructions on the internet are far better than this book, don't waste the 4 hours
