Summary

From best-selling author B.B. Reid comes a riveting, second-chance romance....

Never trust a nice ass and a smile. That girl is definitely poison. When I first came to Blackwood Keep, I was just looking for a thrill. Instead, I found a beautiful fraud - a tomboy my wildest dreams couldn't conjure. Bee didn't just run with boys; she ran the boys. It was only a matter of time before I gave chase. It took one summer for me to win her over and two to lose her forever. My summer love turned ice queen. Without heart or thought, she ruined me.

Four years and an ocean between us, I still can't forget that she chose my cousin...so I won't. When the clock strikes 12, you're mine, Cinderella. It's too late to turn back time.

Jameson and Barbette's story is a continuation of the events that occurred in The Peer and the Puppet and The Moth and the Flame. For the best listening experience it's recommended that you listen to these books in order as the plots connect.

Fantastic.

I absolutely loved getting to know B. She is an amazing character and truly belongs with the gang. I laughed so many times at Jamie's wit. I have looked forward to Jamie's story for a long time, and it certainly didn't disappoint.

The narrators did an amazing job, especially Stephen Dexter. He absolutely blew me away and captured Jamie completely.

I wish I could listen for the first time all over again.

Have read and loved the punk and the plaything ,
So listening to the audiobook was a must .

And yes I loved it, this series is a must read( or listen ) too.
Jamie has always been one of my favourite characters in this series.
Although if your new to this world, you could actually start with just listening to this book.
But I guarantee you will be hooked, and binge the whole series..

Love it ❤️

I’m speechless!
That’s it! I always knew that Jamie will hold my heart in his hands but this? This book? His story and Bee ? You’re not ready for the angst and love they have to go through to be together.

Oh wow

I so love this book. I enjoyed the narrators, and the characters. This series has kept me captivated. While it can be listened to as a standalone, the story is much richer when following the series. I binge listened over the weekend, and cannot wait for book 4. awesome!!!

Amazing!!

I love the narrator's for this book. They pulled me in and kept me listening. This story is all the things amazing. B.B. Reid outdid herself with this one.

4 angsty STARS

If you haven't listened to book 1 turn back now! While the books are all about different couples there is a continuing story arc.

I have to admit I have not liked Bee throughout the series. I can't help it, I'm a Four and Ever fan! I liked that in this book we see glimpses of Bee and the guys when they were younger. It made me like and understand her character more. I still hate her parents though! I liked Jamie from the beginning and I always hated how in the dark he was about everything. I don't want to say more and spoil it other than be ready for an angsty ride.

Narration was amazing! I especially liked Stephen as Jamie.

missed opportunities

disappointed ... like the series but there are a lot of missed opportunities for a much richer suspense. the conflict at the end with the father went nowhere ... there was no damsel in distress event and the gun to the head just made little sense. missing their graduation and blowing off the prom without even a dance was all unbelievable and then the Jason revelation just through an email and Olivia's suicide through his statement ... wasted opportunities for a richer story. All the secrets and even Sean popping up were never developed nor was his relationship with the uncle developed to make the kids suspicious. overall it's disjointed and just teenage couples having sex. the flashbacks were good, but it would have been more believable if the break up of Jamie and B had taken place when she was about 16 instead of so much earlier. This is the 2nd one I have read and both have the same flaws. not a bad read but I come away feeling like I read a messy draft that was in early stages. ... and the Harmonica and the journal were so under used in creating confusion about her feelings for him ... perhaps even a vessel for hints about her abuse or her father's plans for her could have been planted there.

The Punk’s Perfect Match

I knew from book one that Jamie and Bee’s story would be worth the wait and BB Reid delivered in spades. Jameson Buchanan was still the troublemaker I had grown to love in the last two books, but now I also got to truly see where he was coming from and the motives behind his actions. I enjoyed the flashbacks explaining the original relationship he and Bee had which allowed me to better understand their dynamic. Bee was finally fleshed out in this story, becoming more than Ever’s “girlfriend”. I loved the way she gave as good as she got as well as seeing her vulnerable side. Stephen Dexter and Jillian Macie did a wonderful job with this audio, giving each character their own sound and only losing accents a few times. I would definitely listen to more audiobooks from them.

The Punk and the Plaything

The Punk and the Plaything is the third book in the When Rivals Play series. This book is told from dual points of view from Jameson and Barbette. This book goes from the past which was 6 years ago to the present in certain chapters.

Jameson and Barbette fell hard for each other 6 years ago. Barbette was Jameson's cousin Ever's best friend growing up. Now in the present Barbette is engaged to Four. Jameson is mad at her for what he feels she did to him. He doesn't know the whole story.

Barbette is trying to get out of her father's hold. She is in a fake engagement with Ever until she turns 18 and can get away. However Jameson is upset and takes it out on Barbette.

Will Jameson learn the truth before it's to late? Can Barbette learn to trust Jameson? I really liked this book, and I love these two narrators together!

Favorite in series.

I absolutely love this book. The entire series is in my top 10. Jamie is my absolute favorite character. Everything from the writing to the narration was very well executed. I can wait for the final book to be on audible.

When Rivals Play Series!

When Rivals Play Series!

The Punk and the Plaything (When Rivals Play) is a continuous of the events occurred in previous books and builds up the plot. I didn't realize that when I received this audio. That being said I felt like I was missing things as the plot itself is complex and requires much attention. I found the writing style intriguing and the characters complex as well as compelling. The writing composition was engaging and smooth. Told in dual pov, a second chance romance that is angst ridden and passionate. A loved the ending.

Stephen Dexter and Jillian Macy 5 ⭐ performance brought every emotion out of the characters. I highly recommend listening based on the narration alone. It was fantastic. Stephen Dexter's multiple voices were awesome. He was the perfect person to portrayal Jameson.

*Please Note: I have not listened to the other audio's in this series and hope to and will relisten and rating may change

Young love 🖤

OMG I've been dying for Jamie and B's story from book ONE! It did not disappoint! They were so explosive together! The narration for the story was so good!! The Scottish accent....mmmhhmm perfect!
Jamie although broken hearted and angry at B for all that she put him through, never faultered. He loved B with a passion that was unstoppable. B did her best to push Jamie away but in the end they were just meant to be together. ohhh I absolutely loved this book!
