About this listen

Four friends, caught in a terrible job market, joke about turning to kidnapping to survive. And then, suddenly, it’s no joke. For two years, the strategy they devise works like a charm - until they kidnap the wrong man. Now two groups are after them - the law, in the form of veteran state investigator Kirk Stevens and hotshot young FBI agent Carla Windermere, and an organised crime outfit looking for payback. As they crisscross the country in a series of increasingly explosive confrontations, each of them is ultimately forced to recognise the truth: the real professionals, cop or criminal, are those who are willing to sacrifice everything.

Very good first attempt

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Yes went on too long. I realised how it would all end by half way through

Would you be willing to try another book from Owen Laukkanen? Why or why not?

Yes this was a very competent start - he can only get better

What about Jeff Harding’s performance did you like?

All of it. It's amazing how he can deftly change voices from one character to another so there is never any confusion. He makes the whole book

If this book were a film would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

This was a good book but I got fed up by just over half way - it was getting predicable and I actually gave up on it and returned it. BUT it was well written and I would certainly read his next offering - especially if Jeff Harding was narrator!

Good read but ending weak

I really enjoyed this book only problem was, I was so rooting for the kidnappers.
I can't say too much about the ending, but after all the cunning and sensible decision making of the "bad guys" it was definitely swayed to easily in the "good guys" favour which I found a bit insulting.

Awesome book like a real life story

I like this offer style I mean it is simple and plain however in same time it's very interesting to read. There is no big of the doubt how it's going to end, however is rude like that the commentary book I mean everything was so detailed and story is in intriguing recommended for everyone. One thing I realised while reading this book is that no one should trust those popular titles because they are result of future advertising. The more books I read the more I realise that last known offers are far better than that hugely advertised on the top rate of books. In the book narrator is my favourite at first I didn't read any other narrator books because it is so clear and understandable the way he reads The part of that was because my nationality is not English
