Summary

The Pixar Touch is a lively chronicle of Pixar Animation Studios' history and evolution, and the "fraternity of geeks" who shaped it. With the help of visionary businessman Steve Jobs and animating genius John Lasseter, Pixar has become the gold standard of animated filmmaking, beginning with a short special effects shot made at Lucasfilm in 1982 all the way up through the landmark films Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Wall-E, and others.

David A. Price goes behind the scenes of the corporate feuds between Lasseter and his former champion, Jeffrey Katzenberg, as well as between Steve Jobs and Michael Eisner. And finally he explores Pixar's complex relationship with the Walt Disney Company as it transformed itself into the $7.4 billion jewel in the Disney crown.

wish it was longer!

This was such a fascinating story that I didn't want it to end. A newer edition of this would be great as so much seems to have happened since the end of this book. brilliant.

A great insider view

If you could sum up The Pixar Touch in three words, what would they be?

Informative, creative, deceit

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Pixar Touch?

The way everyone came together with a common goal

What about David Drummond’s performance did you like?

Good easy listening

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The guys that went to school together ended up forming some of the household software/design companies today

Any additional comments?

This is a great book to learn about the history of the pioneers of computer animation, particularly interesting to see this side of the story and outsiders views on the Disney corp after reading the Walt Disney biography. The book has some interesting facts and is an easy passive listening experience.
