Story
One of Daphne Wade's guilty pleasures is to watch the Duke of Tremore as he works, shirtless, on the excavation site of his ducal estate. Anthony Courtland is by far the most exciting and handsome man she has ever known, and she dreams of one day being able to speak with him without getting tongue tied. Anthony, meanwhile, only sees her as a hard worker on his excavation team. He considers her a plain young lady and says so to a friend, unaware that Daphne is outside the library door, her heart shattering to pieces. So Daphne decides she will not be so silly any longer.

Summary
Fans of Bridgerton will love this “delightful” Regency romp (Julia Quinn, New York Times best-selling author) in which a proper Society miss recruits a very improper lady investigator in a quest for vengeance, only to find love instead.
As a master of disguise, Thomasina Wynchester can be a polite young lady - or a bawdy old man. She’ll do whatever it takes to solve the cases her family takes on. But when Tommy’s beautiful new client turns out to be the highborn lady she’s secretly smitten with, more than her mission is at stake....
Bluestocking Miss Philippa York doesn’t believe in love. Her heart didn’t pitter-patter when she was betrothed to a duke, nor did it break when he married someone else. All Philippa desires is to decode a centuries-old manuscript to keep a modern-day villain from claiming credit for work that wasn’t his. She hates that she needs a man’s help to do it - so she’s delighted to discover the clever, charming baron at her side is in fact a woman. But as she and Tommy grow closer and the stakes of their discovery higher, more than just their hearts are at risk.
Critic reviews
"Erica Ridley is a delight!" (Julia Quinn)
"This entrancing Regency...is a knockout." (Publishers Weekly)
"Erica Ridley's love stories are warm, witty and irresistible. I want to be a Wynchester!" (Eloisa James)

Delightful queer romance
It is a rare occurrence when a book ticks all the right boxes precisely at the time when I need it. The Perks of loving a wallflower is a delightful pick-me-up romance full with wit and so refreshing. Many tropes are subverted and the yearning is palpable. As a non-binary person, I found the discussions on gender were dealt with with a lot of finesse. Sometimes, it can feel like "here is an educational blog post on gender identity inserted right in the middle of your fiction" and it tends to throw me off the narrative. But here, it was really done masterfully. Also the characters are so hilarious, I cackled very often. A very satisfying read.
The only drawback is the cover. Tommy actually never wears a dress in the book. I don't know what happened there.

Cute Story, Fantastic Characters.
Tommy, Thomasina, Wynchester can be whatever she needs to be, a young man, an old man, a sassy old lady, or a debutante. What she wants to be is herself, just Tommy. Phillipa York is a bluestocking from a wealthy family. Her mother wants nothing more than for her to marry a titled man. Phillipa doesn’t want to marry at all. Tommy fell in love with Phillipa at first sight, but it may take a bit longer for Phillipa to reciprocate. Phillipa has only seen Tommy in disguise. When she reveals her true identity, Phillipa show interest, but the romance is a slow burn.
At the same time Tommy and Phillipa are discovering love, there is a mystery to solve and an injustice to correct. Damaris’s uncle is about to take credit and receive honors for work she did. This is just the thing the Wynchesters love to be involved in. If the record can be set straight, they can do it.
The Wild Wynchesters is a wonderful series, and this story is a great addition. The story, and the series, is an excellent example of family love and acceptance. Phillipa discovers both, something she has never felt before. She and Tommy are a sweet couple. Reading about the siblings is sheer delight. They are smart, funny, and totally devoted to each other and the latest addition to their family. Cute story, fantastic characters, and a pleasant narration by Moira Quirk. I recommend it.

A fun read
The first few chapters almost made me put it down, but then as if the writer had put the novel down for a few years before picking it back up again. The writing suddenly becomes a lot better the conversations become cute and endearing. Philippa's discovery of her own sexuality is believable and sweet. I enjoyed the pair as a delightful couple and hope the author decides to write more lbgta friendly novels, because despite common belief the lbgta community existed long before our modern understanding of the community.

A Diverting Adventure
Picture if Sherlock adopted several irregulars and they begin they begin solving cases as a family. The Perks of Loving a Wallflower has variations of well used and often loved tropes without backing down from the message of the importance of living authentically, and standing up for what you believe in. This is the 1st book in the series that I have read and I am charmed by the Winchester family.

Hilarious and lovely
I laughed during so much of this, truly wonderful. I haven’t read any of the others in the series but it stands well on it’s own. Occasionally parts are mentioned from book 1 but anything required to know from it is summarised well.
The romance is very sweet and well done. It’s not overly graphic with any of the bedroom scenes but neither does it just fade to black.
From what I could tell this is the author’s only sapphic romance novel but if she ever writes another I would happily listen as I really enjoyed this book.
Moira Quirk is absolutely lovely. I actually accidentally listened to her back to back with this book, and the one before this was very different! I was worried it’d be weird hearing the same voice do such a very different story but I didn’t need to worry! Moira so embodies each of the characters here I wasn’t even thinking of the other book at all.
