About this listen
Fans of Bridgerton will love this “delightful” Regency romp (Julia Quinn, New York Times best-selling author) in which a proper Society miss recruits a very improper lady investigator in a quest for vengeance, only to find love instead.
As a master of disguise, Thomasina Wynchester can be a polite young lady - or a bawdy old man. She’ll do whatever it takes to solve the cases her family takes on. But when Tommy’s beautiful new client turns out to be the highborn lady she’s secretly smitten with, more than her mission is at stake....
Bluestocking Miss Philippa York doesn’t believe in love. Her heart didn’t pitter-patter when she was betrothed to a duke, nor did it break when he married someone else. All Philippa desires is to decode a centuries-old manuscript to keep a modern-day villain from claiming credit for work that wasn’t his. She hates that she needs a man’s help to do it - so she’s delighted to discover the clever, charming baron at her side is in fact a woman. But as she and Tommy grow closer and the stakes of their discovery higher, more than just their hearts are at risk.

Delightful queer romance
It is a rare occurrence when a book ticks all the right boxes precisely at the time when I need it. The Perks of loving a wallflower is a delightful pick-me-up romance full with wit and so refreshing. Many tropes are subverted and the yearning is palpable. As a non-binary person, I found the discussions on gender were dealt with with a lot of finesse. Sometimes, it can feel like "here is an educational blog post on gender identity inserted right in the middle of your fiction" and it tends to throw me off the narrative. But here, it was really done masterfully. Also the characters are so hilarious, I cackled very often. A very satisfying read.
The only drawback is the cover. Tommy actually never wears a dress in the book. I don't know what happened there.

Didn’t live up to the hype
The narration and the premise was good but the story itself was slow and predictable

Boring
Narrator was good but the story was kinda boring. I bought this book because i liked the starting point but the characters and the plot have both lot of clichés.
If you are just starting with sapphic books, want a "safe" and "easy" story and are struggling with understandin peoples feelings and motives, this might be for you?
