Critic reviews
"A wonderfully addictive book with virtuoso plotting and characters - for anyone who loved The Girl on the Train, it's a must read." (Rosamund Lupton, author of Sister and The Quality of Silence)
"With tightly drawn characters, a fascinating storyline and absolutely exquiite narration, The Perfect Girl is sure to keep readers up all night. Gilly Macmillan proves once again to be a master of the written word and is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors. Literary suspense at its finest." (Mary Kubica, author of The Good Girl and Pretty Baby)

Another Great Book from a new author
Loved Gill's first book but this one was even better. Kept me guessing from start to finish abd never guessed the ending. Can't wait till her next one.

Interesting premise, but...
This story has an interesting premise. I bought it purely because I play piano like the protagonist, and generally like mysteries/light thrillers (which is what I thought this would become). Without wanting to give too much away, I'll admit I'm disappointed that the author didn't do much with the main character's back story. Although it was well written and reflective, I suppose I was hoping for more twists and turns and gritty revelations about her past. Instead the book primarily focusses on the death of her mother (mentioned in the synopsis) and the events that follow. Also, the book is narrated in turn by all of the main characters. This is easy to follow and linked in well, but I feel the author brought in a lot of sub plots (essentially one for each character to help explain their back story), most of which were never fully resolved, at least not to my satisfaction. Although their back stories were just to add extra depth, not following them up or rounding them off made it seem redundant. On a separate note, I did find the voice of Lucas also very hard to adjust to, but that's personal taste. Overall it was well presented, and some interesting themes which leave you thinking.

Not worth listening to, no strong Characters
Weak story line, nothing psychologically thrilling about this book, a real waste of a credit, don't bother

A VERY Disappointing second novel
What would have made The Perfect Girl better?
Let's see- some suspense, excitement, characters with personality., a storyline ..for starters.
What was most disappointing about Gilly Macmillan’s story?
I knew within the first few chapters exactly how the story would play out. After her brilliant first novel, Ms. Macmillan should be ashamed to have given us this ridiculous, boring..and I MEAN boring..novel. I kept listening just to see if my predictions were right, they all were.
Characters were not likeable with one exception, and he plays a minor role.
Which character – as performed by Penelope Rawlins and Dugald Bruce-Lockhart – was your favorite?
Richard.
What character would you cut from The Perfect Girl?
Everyone except for Richard and the baby.
Any additional comments?
The narration was amazing. The book is horrible. Nine hours wasted.

Engrossing but ultimately disappointing
Really compelling story that makes it hard to stop listening, but a weak ending that that leaves too many things unresolved
