Very interesting and amusing at times

If like me you're not a scientist but are mildly interested in how things came to be and why then you'll probably enjoy this as much as I did. The author doesn't get bogged down with too much jargon. Undoubtedly complicated scientific research has been boiled down to easily understandable concepts that I as a lay person could get my head around.

Very concise and clear

I love this book!
Listened to it few times, and I'm a bit disappointed that there isn't an option to buy it.

interesting, informative and not fridiots, BUT...

When I was at school (many, many years ago), I was told that writing essays for exams and marking, certain words were kind of academic "standards". These include; Moreover, Indeed, However... and 'THUS'.

All of these words are used, many times throughout, but a special trophy should be awarded for the sheer number of thusses.

A fine book, which explains stuff reasonably, and thus now you're aware of and will notice it,
a book that sounds a little like it was written by me, aged 14.

I thought it was great, very informative.

I had some knowledge already or I may have struggled with the fast pace. I loved it as a refresher though.

How it all came to be

Jesus, (actually he had nothing to do with this book.) that was a lot for my grey matter to take in.

You need to listen to this without any other distractions, so I had to schedule this at certain times.

Very interesting if at times a bit mind blowing.
I had a few blonde moments, but overall it’s written very well for the lay person

Not wild in the American narrator, but that’s personal

thought provoking

A lot of information, a lot of ideas and a lot to think about all in a very compact space.

Exceptional summary of earth evolution

Exceptional good summary of the earth evolution. I’ve listened to several audiobooks on earth evolution in the past but this one excels at quickly taking you through the whole of earth evolution without the loss of details.

A really good listen. i wondered how he knew so much so I looked him up and he is a professor of geology at Yale. that explains it. I really enjoyed the whole thing but you have to listen properly.

good but a bit dense

it was a very interesting audiobook, but there was a lot packed into it. The was a ton of interesting information that I wanted to stop and think about after hearing it, but if I did I'd potentially miss the next couple things. But still, very interesting.

Good story, bad humans

Excellent reading and flow of the story. Just the right amount of details and analysis. Way too heavy on the anthropogenic global warming guilt trip.

Good synopsis of the universe's creation.

I hesitate to say an easy to follow beginners guide to the quantum physics involved in the creation of the universe, but a good beginners guide none the less. I have only an interest in the subject, no formal education. It was at tines hard to follow in audio format. Some of the concepts are hard to comprehend while driving and not having your full attention on the subject matter. But this left me lost far less often than a couple other books on the topic I have listened to.

More on that later . . .

I only gave this 4 stars. We'll revisit that in the next paragraph. I really enjoyed this book and would have given it 5 stars except, as mentioned earlier, I had reason to give it 4 stars, as I will explain later. The book was easy to follow and did a great job of putting heavy science into layman's terms. The narrator did a great job of keeping a steady cadence and not stumbling over some of the deeper scientific explanations riddled with complex wording, as if he was fluent in the science himself.

And now for the reason, as mentioned in paragraph 1, that I gave this 4 stars. I began to cringe every time the author included "more on that below", "more on that later", "more about this in the next chapter", "we'll revisit that in the next 2 paragraphs"," we'll get back to that later", and "again, as mentioned above". Sometimes 2 sentences in a row would contain phrases like this. If the author didn't mention something, mention tthat he was going to revisit it later, revisit it later, and mention that he mentioned it earlier, the title of the book could have been 'The Origins of Everything in Less Than 100 Pages' and been easier to listen to.

Still a good book.

Good free title for a quick listen

Sometimes I just need a palate cleanser between longer books and for me that means a short (5-8 hours, but then played at 1.5 speed) nonfiction book.
This book hit the spot with a quick-paced look at astronomy and geology. It was a good listen.

Tremendous

I adored this book. I learned more from Bercovici than I did from books more than twice as long. I wasn’t lucky enough to have been one of his Yale students. Owning “Origins of Everything” is a lovely consolation prize.

Mediocre rambling, it’s good if you don’t know any physics yet I guess

This book explains the development of our galaxy and earth, he jumps around a lot… could be better

Amazing

I was skeptical because I have very little scientific knowledge. However, I learned so much. This was an enjoyable read!
