Summary
The new life-changing technique from Gemma Bray - creator of The Organised Mum Method
Do you ever get to the end of the day and feel like you've achieved nothing? Do you find it difficult to decide how to spend the small amount of free time you have? Do you ever wonder how some people seem to be able to do more with their time than others?
If you're feeling overwhelmed by all the things you need to squeeze into your day, unproductive or stuck in a daily routine that isn't making you happy, The Organised Time Technique is for you. This is Gemma Bray's unique method for organising your day that will stop you from trying to do everything (and feeling like a failure when you can't), keep you focused on how you use the time you have available, help you play to your strengths and, most importantly, stop worrying about what anyone else is doing.
So how does it work? The Organised Time Technique encourages you to look at the 24 hours you have each day as your time budget - at total of 48 30-minute tokens. It helps you work out how to spend those tokens in the best way possible by breaking down your day into Level 1 'non-negotiable' tokens such as sleeping and eating; Level 2 'essential' tokens like going to work and taking your children to school; and Level 3 'focus' tokens - the things you always want to get around to doing, but never quite manage such as taking up a hobby, reading a book, starting a side business or simply having a bath!
The Organised Time Technique can be adapted to fit any lifestyle or set of circumstances. It will help you discover that you can achieve more in the time you have and ultimately feel happier and more fulfilled.
Are you ready?

key takeaways summarised
The key takeaway is to divide your jobs into 3 levels and your time into units of 30 mins.
To illustrate
Sleep: 16 units (level one).
Work: 14 units (level two).
Housework: 1.5 units (level two).
Getting yourself and the kids ready in the morning (including breakfast): 2 units (level one).
School run and/or commute: 2 units (level two).
School pick-up and/or home commute: 2 units (level two).
Dinner prep and evening meal: 3 units (level one).
Bath/bedtime with kids: 2 units (level two).
Total: 43.5 units.
This leaves you with 4.5 units for your level-three 'me time'. That's two hours 15 minutes
Level 1: need to do each day
E.g. sleeping, eating, washing, caregiving. Will be roughly the same for everyone.
Level 2: Important jobs but not life-and-death.
Work, commute and the school run are included under here presumably because you could relocate, find another job or find another way of getting the kids to school. Housework is included here; Gem makes a compelling argument for paying for a cleaner on the basis of how much time it takes you and how much time you get back for the small amount you pay them.
My own example: no Is an hour extra free time worth more than the cost of a bottle of wine?
Level 3: Alleluia! Me time.
Level 3s are freed up during the culling stage.
Gem writes, "Spend 30 minutes a day doing marketing calls for your new business, or de-cluttering the garage, or learning the guitar — and by Christmas you'll have put in 45 hours, enough to really get to grips with something new."
If an activity takes up 2 units a day (1 hour), it will have added up 14 units by the end of the week, and 728 units by the end of the year. Cutting these 2 units each day equates to a yearly time saving of 364 hours. That's 15 days a year you're wasting on those 2 units.
Where to start? Audit your week.
Over the next week, I want you to write down everything you spend your time on.
That means how much sleep you're getting, how long it takes you to shower, to get to the office, to take the kids to after-school club, to do the laundry, right down to how long you spend scrolling on your phone.
Be honest and accurate. And track your emotions, as well — this will be crucial information later on. If you feel stressed because you're late for work or didn't have time to cook dinner from scratch, note it down.
You can then move on to better organizing your day. Gem has 5 stages for this.

Felt alienated for not being a mum
I think the blurb for the book needs to make it very clear that this book is aimed for mums. It claims not to be but parenting is mentioned non stop, every example involves being a mum,
The time organising technique itself isn’t bad at all, it’s just packaged up for mums rather than busy individuals who need help with managing their time.

Loved it.
This is the first audio book that I have listened right to the end. I have been a lurker on the Team TOMM Facebook group for many years now, however have been trying to implement it. However as a busy mum of two young boys, a wife, house keeper and self employed business owner, just getting the time to start has been impossible. After listening to Gemma's Organised Time Technique I am confident that I will be able to implement this into my life. I am already excited about all of the things I will get to do for myself.

The title of this book might be why you should say no.
I love Gemma Bray. I found her through a decluttering group and found her cleaning style refreshing and useful, 30 minutes and done. Of course it’s a little more complicated than that, but it started working for me. I learned about Gemma’s Christmas TOTT and used it and it was brilliant no more clamoring around not knowing what will happen no one else running my life for me at Christmas time. So when I learned she had a new book I went for it. I did follow the steps in her book and am now following them. Yesterday was my first day implementing all the steps and I was smiling at the end of the day with my hair done and makeup on when dinner slipped away from me because I had to “stomp out a fire” from my Girl Scout Troop it was ok Because the rest of the day had gone so well I didn’t stress dinner having to be take out. I love listening to Gemma because she always has a good story and seems to always have my back. Overall I gave it a 4 because it definitely has a specific audience, but if you fall into the audience of woman/mom this book might be for you. If you are a man/father feeling stressed and can get to the true message then this book might be helpful to you as well.
