Summary
Coexisting but conflicting needs create self-sabotaging behaviors. This is why we resist efforts to change, often until they feel completely futile. But by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits, building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies, releasing past experiences at a cellular level, and learning to act as our highest potential future selves, we can step out of our own way and into our potential.
For centuries, the mountain has been used as a metaphor for the big challenges we face, especially ones that seem impossible to overcome. To scale our mountains, we actually have to do the deep internal work of excavating trauma, building resilience, and adjusting how we show up for the climb. In the end, it is not the mountain we master, but ourselves.

Why is it so hyped up?
The only reason I can think of why this book is overly hyped is lack of basic life experiences. Because if you’re over 20 it is generally a universal experience to go through the things the author describes in the book and find your own unique way to deal with it.
Apart from that, my previous book on Audible was the Atomic Habits. The fist half of the Mountain is You is an oversimplified version of Atomic Habits word for word with no research or supporting materials. If that’s not bad enough, I can clearly hear her mixing the book the Vortex by Abraham Hicks into her writing, which should be identified as a teaching school if it’s used.
This book is a pure, undiluted “motivational speaker” book, in the worst sense. I could barely finish it also because of the annoyance that the voice caused (but I can never just put a book down after starting). The narrator tries too hard to be “joyous” and it shows.
2 stars because some beginners on the topic might be inspired to read more on it.

Finding your authentic Self
If I had to recommend just one life enhancing book, it would be this one♥️ Such insightful writing from such a young woman. You can choose your ‘wound’ and then apply her observations to how to heal… I kept finding myself nodding and saying “yes!” and laughing and crying. I keep re-listening to it and think I will also buy the book. It arrived at me at just the right moment…♥️

Perfection
Brianna Wiest has written a few hours of narrated perfection. This audiobook will
Prove more useful than months of 1-2-1 psycho therapy. It is the best book I’ve ever read/heard on the subject of experiencing enlightenment. Get it. Trust me.
Ps. The guy at the top of this review chain sounds bitter and jealous to me.

Eye opening book on self sabotaging patterns
Really informative and a great read if you’re on a self discovery path. Some hard truths to take stock and accountability of how your actions are often the route cause of your issues. Highly recommend.

What an awesome read with a clear breakdown of actionable. I can’t wait to give it another read and to implement all the information and knowledge gained. This is perfect for those experiencing self doubt and self sabotage
, and even perfect for those who are confident in themselves but need to work on areas that prevent them from growing mentally

It’s a very clever new angle on psychology
I have read many well known titles to help understand my mind and help improve my wellbeing and overcome inherent hinderances. One thing that I have asked psychologists and counsellors, plus sought an answer to through reading is “why do I self sabotage?”… that was my own definition… this book addresses EXACTLY that question, and does so from a variety of aspects. I totally recommend it, for me it has been a game changer. I have been looking for this help for decades.

Powerful and insightful
Well delivered and very informative common sense approach to self-development; nice soothing voice. Makes sense to me; most of all it got through to me that it's the small steps that matter the most when it comes to changing one's habits for the better and to be in the present as much as possible.

Underwelming
I wanted this to live up to the hype, but it did not.
Perhaps this would be helpful for someone new to “self development”, but for me it read like a lot of stating the obvious. Most of the points made in this book are paraphrased themes of best selling self help books, and at worst a bunch of Pinterest quotes pushed together.
The tone is dogmatic “you must do this” or “you cannot do that” with very little science or data to back up claims. Disappointing and overhyped, and I did not enjoy the narrator’s cheesy and sing songy performance.

Fell Short
I quickly picked this book up after seeing almost everyone talking about it with high praises. It ended up being unexpectedly repetitive, and at many times felt more like a positive affirmations track than an actual book. The messages were nice, but offered much less science-backed examples than other similar books, and most of the 'tactics' given were very metaphorical; you'll 'know it's working' because you can 'feel your inner child' and stuff like that. When it comes to exercises, it's not much help to the emotionally congested to just tell us you're certain we'll see certain deep mental montages and just 'feel' when it's correct. Probably a good starter book, but didn't have enough substance for me.

A must for anyone going through life transformation
I've been hyper-focusing on my growth over the last 3 years (since D-Day/Diagnosed at 40 ADHD) and this book is something I wish I listened to 3 years ago. There are so many great points the author brings up, which take a topic and shifts your angle of perspective of it. I found a lot of quotes from the book on google and they are so good. I recommend this book for someone who wants to get to the root of issues in their life, but you've gotta be open and capable of creating new awareness. If you are, this book can help you make sense of things you weren't able to identify or maybe understand before.
There are also a couple of topics covered and discussed that hit real close to home with my ADHD. This book can help you come up with areas to focus on (no pun intended) using CBT.

"Self sabotage, is sabotage self. when Self and you sabotage, you are sabotage your self. Sabotage sabotaging, is sabotage, the sabotage self." Google "Buzz words to make yourself seem smart, and on the know." There you go! Just saved you from sabotaging your time and money, you sabotager....

Uncovering Our Mountains
Brianna Wiest does a phenomenal job with helping her readers see the deeper rooted things in our lives that we need to focus on to achieve the healing we are all searching for in life. We often think we know the true problems in our lives that we need to fix so that we can have a better life but after reading this book I realized that most of us are just treating the symptoms and not the actual core problem. If you’ve been dealing with self sabotage in your life I highly recommend this book. It helped me uncover things I’ve been working years to uncover by simply getting me to realize the symptoms are the area we need to be focusing on.

Good insight tools
This is a deep clean necessary for removing adverse behavioral patterns. Positive self talk cleans the surface. Being present in life requires excavation of the origin of adverse patterns. This book is good for doing that work.

Exactly what I needed!
When you go through life, the ups and downs, can exhaust your outlook to the future- needless to say I am glad I found this book.
The narrator is really soothing. The information, though tough to hear at times, really brought forward a lot of hardships I have had and how to navigate effectively through them.
absolutely appreciated this read!
