It was hard to follow and felt it could have been a lot better than it was. I didn’t enjoy the twist in the story and felt the twist and supernatural element to the story spoilt it . The only thing I did enjoy was the description of Calcutta in the 1940s when the British empire was there

As always Dan Stevens reads Zafon beautifully.

This is a mysterious story with other worldly elements but at its core is Friendship, love and I think a little hope tinged in old age

Well worth a listen

Once again Zafon shows his masterly touch. He writes so vividly about the horrific transformations that Jahwal undergoes that the reader can readily see them . This is the second in his Niebla / Mist series each stands alone but are linked by the idea that one's soul can have a dark side.

This was excellently narrated by Dan Stevens and I enjoyed listening to him. unfortunately the actual storyline was just too weak to sufficiently hold my attention. I love Carlos Ruiz Zafon's other works, this one however was a disappointment to me. I just didn't connect with any of the characters and the story just didn't interest me. I feel sad about that.
