Summary
October 1381. Brother Athelstan is summoned to the church of St Benet’s in Queenhithe to investigate the murder of a priest. Parson Reynaud has been found stabbed to death inside his own locked church. Other disturbing discoveries include an empty coffin and a ransacked money chest. Who would commit murder inside a holy church? Another classic Brother Athelstan mystery
Paul Doherty never fails to impress with his storyline, narrative and in depth knowledge of medieval England. Always woven into the thread of historical fact and actual events, his grasp of human weakness and our capacity for doing evil to one another is amazing. Every volume a listening 'page turner', whether it is the sorrowful Brother Athelstan, Master Hugh Corbett or the venerable Lord Amerotke. All of whom, I very soon hope to hear from in their Audible volumes.

Terrific read
Once again Paul Doherty has got it right, brother Athelstan is facing even more complicated murders. I love the history. I just wish Doherty would write some more of the pilgrimage series.
