About this listen
From the embers of a galaxy in flames, destiny calls upon an unknown guardian.
Captain Axel Finn has spent his life running salvage missions with an alien crew and their war bot. This motley group has found refuge on his ship from their own tumultuous pasts. But little do any of them know, beneath his gentle demeanor, their steadfast captain is far from the peace following, adventure seeking giant of a man they all love. His pacifist ethos meant to safeguard them has edged them to the brink of financial ruin and drawn dangerous enemies.
Forced into a risky salvage operation, the crew uncovers an alien relic not of this galaxy.
Expecting treasure to pay their debts, they instead find an artifact of the Wrath, an extraterrestrial species that once decimated entire worlds. To decipher the true nature of their discovery, Axel seeks Rangnar Soki, a deadly bounty hunter famous for his pursuit of the Stewards—legendary warriors who stood against the Wrath in bygone days. But as the mystery of this artifact deepens, and hunters close in, an old enemy threatens to set the galaxy ablaze.
Axel must choose: accept his legacy and unleash the monster within or watch everything he loves burn.

Space opera done right!
This is a well written, not to mention funny space romp with memorable characters, plenty of action and a storyline that keeps moving along at a good pace. A fun ride, well written and narrated. Can't go wrong with this one.

Great!
To be honest it took me a couple of chapters to really settle into this story but once I did I thoroughly enjoyed it. It reminded me of Star Wars in places, at least that's where my imagination took me.
I feel like there was a lot of information in this book laying groundwork for another gripping series, and as usual some brilliant characters. Really looking forward to the next book in the series.

Hooked, real me in Cappa
Nicholas Sansbury Smith nails it again. If you are a fan of his books you will know what this means, and if you are not, you will be.
I started out struggling with this a little bit as there is a lot of information, a lot of character and a lot of subplots that needed to be introduced before the story could get under way and its worth while listening to the start twice (Easier if you have the book) as NSS sets out the current state of the galaxy for us. In all honesty, I wasn't a fan of the start, but once that was out of the way and we returned to his more familar character and dialogue driven style the story became great.
NSS always manages to create endearing characters, with just the right amount of silliness to make you smile and indeed to laugh out loud. With multiple Alien races to explore the characters in this story will do exactly that, the use of language has already seen the rise of what will become a guaranteed fan favourite.
There are Heroes and Villians aplenty and not all are cut from the same cloth and the characters development you will change your mind as to what catagory they might fall in to and of course, we have the fallen, but remember, this is NSS, if you don't see them die... There are Space Pirates, Bounty Hunters, Robots, Soldiers, Warriors and Unmarried Sisters to look forward to.
As always with an NSS story there is plenty of action to entertain with a real promise of a lot more to follow in the next book, and the books after that. Very excited to see what comes next. The hook is set, lets hope there is a lot of line to reel in.

Exhilarating action and vivid world-building.
I loved this book so much!! If you want to be taken on a thrilling journey through the cosmos then this book is for you. This book has it all, intense action, intricate world-building and entertaining and captivating characters, Axel and his crew of misfits and Jax and her crew are my favourites.
The pacing is relentless, propelling the story forward with each turn of the page. From heart-stopping space battles to tense encounters with alien foes, the story is packed with adrenaline-fueled excitement that kept me on the edge of my seat.
One of the highlights of the story is its richly imagined universe. Smith has crafted a sprawling galactic landscape filled with diverse planets, alien species, and ancient mysteries waiting to be uncovered.
Nicholas Sansbury Smith has once again proven himself to be a master storyteller and I cannot wait for book 2!!
I rather liked the dual narration! Both narrators deliver stellar performances and their varied and wide ranged voices create a simply amazing auditory experience.

Absolutely Loved It ;)
I wasn't too sure at Chapter One whether I would like this - I wasn't keen on the narration style and there seemed to be a lot of moving parts too early, My bad - I loved this - it ticked all the boxes for me. I seemed to warm to the narration style and then totally disregarded that as I was drawn into the storyline (my idea of a good book) I can't wait for the next installment and I'm hoping this storyline has a long run. - Slow and Steady.

Not for me this one
I love sci-fi but I cant get in to this one. I've replayed the first seven chapters, 3 times and I feel nothing for the story or the characters, Still I keep listening and nope, nothing.
I might have to go back to this book in a few months or so and give it another go.
