Summary

On the eve of her wedding, Sky Elizabeth, the earl of Fife's eldest daughter, learns of her betrothed's murderous plot against her. As she flees, Sky falls through a mysterious portal in time, landing at the feet of a twenty-first-century American knight.

Struan, the bastard son of the earl of Sutherland, escaped death through time's portal once. Recognizing what has befallen the frightened woman, he vows to protect her even while Sky, with a trace of fae blood in her veins, senses his resentment.

Despite their growing attraction, she's determined to find a way home to avert a clan war. Though he cannot deny his desire, he fears that helping her return to the past will surely lead to his demise. As the two work together, passion ignites and an unbreakable bond forms - but will it be enough to sustain them through the perils they'll face in the past? Can their love have a future?

Like Revisiting Old Friends.

If you’ve listened and enjoyed the first books in this series you will be delighted to revisit some old friends in book 4. I enjoyed the story of Sky and Struan. Their romance, despite the challenges, was touching and very sweet. The author did a nice job showing the many difficulties and struggles while living in different centuries.

This book can stand alone but I don’t think it would be as enjoyable without the background of the other books. There are no cliffhangers but the story’s intertwine by their time travel experiences.

I thought the narrator did a really good job. I liked his voice. Some of the reviewers didn't... so please listen to the Audio Sample before purchasing.

Also, there is some Adult sexual content….. so for those who prefer clean romances you might want skip this one. ;-)

VERY GOOD STORY AND EXCELLENT NARRATION

Barbara Langley writes a good story, but she could improve on her sexual encounters. Shelley Thacker is the best there by painting beautiful scenes with colorful descriptions. Use of words like "clit" and nipple and such are a real turn off and mood breaker. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable book and look at life in the past.

Barely OK for me..

First of all there’s not a bit of passion in this book, one thought in the first 40%. But after the 40% there was all kinds of sexual attraction and tension. It was like Struan (what a stupid name) and Sky didn’t even notice each other until almost half way through the book. That was just crazy. AND boring.

Another thing that was awful about this book, which will stop me from reading anymore of this series, is the fact that I absolutely hate when a hero and heroine from another book grows old. I’ve read so many books since I read about True and Malcolm that I don’t even remember it, or the fact that they had a daughter named Sky. Now they’re old and grey and I was almost tempted not to finish reading the book. This is the last one in this series I'll read/listen to. I'm sure in the next book one of the heroes or heroines we've read about will probably be dead and I can't take that chance. And I’d listened to all the other books, by different narrators, and what Mr. Daniels did to Robley’s (another hero from another book) voice was just terrible. He sounded like a cranky old man, and a two-pack-a-day smoker, all at once.

I was looking forward to the battle with the Erskines but was sorely disappointed since there wasn’t one. There was only a bunch of wounded brought in for Sky and her mother, True, to take care of. Overall, this wasn’t a real good story. No excitement, no OMG moments, just a lot of angst on Struan’s part over being born a bastard and all his silly thoughts on not being good enough for Sky, or how Sky would look down on him if she knew the truth. More silliness.

I did like all the other players: Gene, Marjorie, Michael, Lindsay, Andrew and David. AND that A-hole Oliver got just what he deserved.

There was graphic sex in this book but no swearing.

As to the narrator: Luke Daniels has 360 books he’s narrated but he sure sucks at this one. I can see why my daughter says a man shouldn’t narrate an historical novel. This guy doesn’t know a thing about laughing, crying, WHISPERING, or any other kind of emotion. He reads like a robot most of the time, and then not, then back to robotic again. The only thing he had going for him was the really sexy voice he gave Struan.

I got this book free through KU and the audible cost $1.99.

The narrators voice sounds old!!!!!

I am struggling to finish this book because the narrators voice sounds like he is 75 and the characters are 24 and 21...

All the narrators in these series save the book about Hunter all have horrible narration! It really takes away the greatness of this book. So frustrating!

Loch Moigh

One of the best series I have listened to. I truly hope there will be an addition to it.
