Summary
The Green Man’s Foe is a modern fantasy rooted in the ancient myths and folklore of the British Isles from best-selling author Juliet E. McKenna.
When you do a good job for someone, there’s a strong chance they’ll offer you more work or recommend you elsewhere. So Daniel Mackmain isn’t particularly surprised when his boss’ architect brother asks for his help on a historic house renovation in the Cotswolds. Except Dan’s a dryad’s son, and he soon realises there’s a whole lot more going on. Ancient malice is stirring, and it has made an alliance in the modern world. The Green Man expects Dan to put an end to this threat. Seeing the danger, Dan’s forced to agree. A splendid tale
Nice world-building. The revelation of the supernatural elements feel very natural. Lead character likeable with some good supporting cast.
For a while I did wonder if it was being narrated by an AI but I eventually got used to the rather mannered delivery

Why change the narrator?
I did struggle with this at the beginning as I really found the narrators reading and voice a little irritating and I nearly didn’t continue with the story. It’s possibly because I thought the narrator for the green man’s heir was so much better so I associate his voice with the characters. But once I persevered and followed the story, that seemed to bother me less. I enjoyed the story and it was good to hear that they expanded on lore and the world the main characters inhabit. I do recommend the 2 books

Disappointed of Frimley
Having enjoyed the first book I found the second book with a change of reader and style so unacceptable that I couldn’t bring myself to finish the story.

Narrator is hard to listen too
I don't know why they decided to change the narrator for the second book, but it was a bad choice. He has a strange way of talking, that is completely off putting and hard to listen too.
I enjoyed the story, not the reader. Hope he won't be returning for the 3rd and 4th books.

Diabolical narrator.
Had to really force myself to listen to the rest after struggling with the first chapter. The narrator is absolutely terrible, his voice has no tone or story awareness in it at all. The whole book was ruined by his monotone flat voice, such a shame as the actual story was great. Please don't allow this person to narrate and ruin any other stories.

Horrible narration
Great story but dreadful narration, it’s like he was putting on a strange mystic voice the whole time, even pronouncing some of the characters names completely differently than the narrator of the first book, I really wish they stuck with the original guy, what a waste of my credit

I can't listen to anymore!
I loved the first book and narrator, but I wish I had read the reviews before buying this one!
Alister mispronounces many names and common words and phrases, and his slow drawl (sometimes giving the impression that he's almost asleep) really ruins the story for me.
I've listened for over an hour, hopeful of another excellent story, but I really can't continue with this one.

awful narrator
why oh why do they get you hooked on a series of books, then chage the narrator?? This guy sounds like a cheesy 80s magician with his drawn out words and whimsical sentences.. it has ruined the characters and the overall feel of the first book which was great, just can't finish this 2nd book ,waste of a credit!

Good Story, Bad Naration
I was really looking forward to this book - The Green Man's Heir is brilliant.
Unfortunately it isn't the same narrator. I couldn't get past chapter 2 as the overly languid drawl and intonation was so irritating.
A lesson in not making assumptions that the same narrator is used in a series, so ALWAYS listen to a sample.
