About this listen

Everyone deserves to get away for a bit. Even the miscreants at St Mary's.

Astonishingly, Dr. Bairstow has declared a holiday. Even more astonishingly - he's paying for it. Needless to say, there are strings attached. They have to record the 1601 performance of Hamlet, with Shakespeare himself in the role of the Ghost. It doesn't go well, of course.

With Dr Bairstow and Mrs Mack turning a simple visit to a street market into a public brawl, Professor Rapson inadvertently stowing away on a vessel bound for the New World, and Shakespeare himself going up in flames, it would seem that Max, of all people, is the only one actually completing the assignment.

Recommend

These Chronicles of St Mary's series are fantastic, very well narrated by Zoe Ramm.. If they ever made a film of these, then she is Max!

The premise of these stories is genius! Can't wait for the next one!
If you could visit any point in time, where would you go?

Not my cup of tea

Disappointing story with poor preface to establish understanding of time travel element fundamental to storyline

5 stars - as usual!

What can I say! Yet another hugely enjoyable outing for the irrepressible 'in-mates' of St Mary's! I wait, with very little patience, for the next volume in this very endearing series! Zara Ramm brings them to life in her own, superb, fashion! These books would just NOT be the same without her!!

Full of joy and humour, an excellent short story

I'm not a fan of short stories but this was excellent, packed with humour and full of favourite characters from St Mary's, up to their usual escapades and amazing escapes. Every line was a joy.

Okey dokey

And Ms Taylor does it again! This time it is mayhem in Elizabethan London. As always, I loved it. These characters are well developed and, by now, well loved. The underlying humour with which the telling of this tale is threaded makes it another rounding success for St Mary's.

Great Historiacal romp

Which character – as performed by Zara Ramm – was your favourite?

I want Max to be my favourite, but actually its Marham - love him!

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh out loud funny

Any additional comments?

I paid a full credit for this and its a very short story :( slightly annoying

Good fun

A light and fun short story, with a colourful cast of characters. Well read by Zara Ramm.
