Summary
When Sara Stanley, the Story Girl, returns to Carlisle to spend the winter with the King family, she comes up with a great idea. To help them through the dreary months ahead, she, Felicity, Cecily, and Dan will publish a magazine. From “Personals” to “Fashion Notes,” from the etiquette column to its stories of the most interesting happenings in Carlisle, Our Magazine quickly becomes the most entertaining publication anyone in town has ever read.
But seasons pass, nothing is forever, and soon it will be time for the Story Girl to leave her good friends on Prince Edward Island, friends with whom she has walked the golden road of youth.

Beautifully Read Gentle Tale
This is a continuation of The Story Girl and is beautifully read by Grace Conlin who also narrated The Story Girl. Set in rural Prince Edward Island in the early 1900s it is a gentle tale of 6 children of the old King Family dynasty plus two of their friends. If you love Anne of Green Gables you are highly likely to enjoy this.

Good classic book; AWFUL narrator
Where does The Golden Road rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Pretty high up since I am a HUGE LMM fan!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Golden Road?
The scenes involving all the children. Particularly when Felicity gave Peter the "Stay away from drink" bookmark LOL
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Grace Conlin?
Some with a fresh voice reminiscent of Sara or Felicity. The drawl really spoils the essence of this book and makes me feel sleepy.

great writing
this is one of my favorite books which is strange because I am a middle-aged man, but I can enjoy a well-told tale no matter if it features a female heroine or a male hero. I still have tears in my eyes from the last paragraphs it is almost impossible to hear this ending of the story without shedding a few tears it's so well written! I wish more books were like this.

Even more charming
...than the first charming book in this couplet. I seemed to grow up right along with them.

A nice story
The story is good and I enjoyed the performance but it's missing most of chapter 8.
