Summary

The world had teeth and it could bite you with them anytime it wanted. Trisha McFarland discovered this when she was nine years old. Trying not to be terrified. Trying not to think that sometimes when people got lost in the woods they got seriously hurt. Sometimes they died. And all because she needed to pee.

This is the story of a girl who gets lost on an outing in the Northeast woods. In her panic to get back on the track, she takes turnings which lead her deeper and deeper into the terrifying woods. With only a small amount of food and water in her knapsack, she begins to give up hope of ever getting out. Alive. The only thing that keeps her going is her Walkman on which she listens avidly to Red Sox baseball games, creating an imaginary friendship with her hero Tom Gordon. And as she struggles for survival and a way out, she realises she's not alone. There's something else in the woods, and it's watching her.

Excellent

Great narrator, easy to follow and one of King's better books. Well worth the listen, I recommend.

the man who loved Tricia's journey!

a really good, involving 6 hour listen, Anne heche nailed the voice of Tricia perfectly and the build up to the final confrontation was well worth the journey!

Not a bad tale

Not Mr Kings best but the narrator does a great job and still an enjoyable tale

Not the best

For a Stephen King book it's really not great. There's no real twist or anything. Just a document if a girl lost in the woods for 9 days. it could have been pushed more in the supernatural direction that was constantly being opened up but never really explored.
An okay book, but not one that I'll read again

Not the best but definitely not the worst from Mr King

As a child I used to venture in the forest and can relate to some of the childhood fears of what is lurking out there. It is quite a charming story and you feel at times sorry for the little one going through so much to get back to civilisation. This said, the story does not have the twists and turns the author is famous for. A good listen to have while you are doing your house chores rather than driving on long distance.

So good.

This is such a good story. think my ears are damaged from keeping my earbuds in too long to keep listening. Narration is probably the best I've heard.
